Yea between two guests.

I wouldn't recommend any of the sushi there, the mains are good and the beef sashimi are good. I tried all the oysters they had available. Honestly, you can find the same quality oysters cheaper elsewhere.

For me the sushi was a letdown.

Famoso Pizza on Commercial Drive

5/10. Honestly, the food wasn't bad or revolting by any means but $15 for a paper thin pizza of 6 you could easily eat by yourself? These things are so dam thin they're hard to eat without everything falling apart. Might as well roll it up like a sushi roll. I'd rather just go to any buck joint and get a few huge cheap slices. Like I said, it wasn't bad but definitely not worth the price IMO. Maybe I'm just being cheap or maybe I don't understand the "gourmet" pizza world, but I'd honestly prefer pizza from various dollar joints around town.

The ordering/paying system is odd too

I don't think you really are grasping the concept of neapolitan pizza, but famoso isn't really the place to do it. Its a chain. Go to pizzeria barbarella, or nicli and if you feel the same way I'd be surprised.

There's are order sheets/pencils at the tables. You write down the items you want, bring it up to the front counter and they'll go over it with you as they're punching it in.

those are the most rip off place ever, and my buddy, who's a baller, think those are fancy food. whenever he insist that we go to these places, i tell him i will only go if he treats. i ain't paying $80 - $150 for the amount of food that is in a $5 pho.

wat. $15 for 6 pieces of nigiri isn't even pricey...it would average out to be $2.50 per piece which is pretty reasonable unless your eating sushi garden quality type garbage.

izakaya's aren't ripoffs and shouldn't really be considered fancy food. its just a higher end take on pub fare basically. you honestly cannot even compare pho to an izakaya. its like comparing apples to oranges. your going for the atmosphere, the company, the service, the drinks, the good food etc.

Tipper Restaurant -

Food: 6.5-7 / 10
Service: Waitress was cute and attentive - 10/10

I had a cajun burger.

Meh, average stuff (cajun spice, garlic butter spread, standard stuff, no WOW factor). Can't complain - I wouldn't go out of my way for it - prob if I wanted a dine-in place if I was in the vicinity.

Tried Sushi Oyama in Burnaby on Kingsway and Royal Oak and the service was pretty good and the food came pretty fast considering they were busy. Sushi was good, considering I have not had it in a while.

Thanks for the details. Rather unorthodox way of running a restaurant.

They didnt even refill our tea. I've been here quite a few times and it seems like they always screw something up.
fucking biggest piece of shit place ever, my friend order the normal beef noodle not spicy one. Dumbass waitress brought out a spicy one after repeating our order. Told her it was the wrong one, and they brought it back in. Fuckers didnt even make him a new one but just rinsed it out in the normal soup or hot water and gave it back to him. we just asked fro the bill and left, fucking never going to this place again, shithole restaurant.

wish i didnt even pay for the bill lol

Tomoya Sushi on Nelson (by Kingsway) in Burnaby.
1/10. This place sucked! Went there the other night with my lady friend, and ordered their special (pick 3 items for $10.95). Took forever for ANY food to come, including the miso soup! I ordered a combo A, which included an ebi sunomono....which never came, and when I asked, they told me they were out! WTF, how does a "Japanese" restaurant run out of shrimp and some glass noodles?! Other people were seated after us and got their salmon sashimi before us. Huh? And then the waitress starts brining us food (3 times) that we didn't order. Oh yeah, the food? The rice in our sushi was crunchy..meaning it wasn't even fully cooked! Enough said...
Wow, what a gong show. Obviously, I didn't tip well.
You can also read the reviews on Yelp and Dinehere.ca, same poor experiences from other diners. Avoid if you're around there, there's always Cattle Cafe or Taiwanese Beef noodles next door, and other sushi joints in the area.

Bluewater Cafe is totally different than Japanese Izakaya (ebisu, manzo).

And the above is definitely superior than Samurai, Sushi Garden, etc where they just throw things at you and your table basically touches your neighbour.

Wife and I had the Nutella crepe and the Butter + Sugar crepe. Not as good as the ones we had in Europe but pretty darn close.

Burger Haven

8/10

Had the Awesome Awesome Burger. I like how they patties are cooked on a flat top instead of grill. Four juicy, delicious patties was no problem for me Gonna try to join "Mile High"(8 patties) club next time.

5/10. Not bad, but horribly overpriced. Horribly overpriced.
