Chop is waaay overrated.

Keg is pretty consistent, so they're my go-to steakhouse if I'm not going fancy like Hy's or Gotham's or whatever.

I went to Chop once and the food came out luke warm, border lining cold. I was too afraid to send it back because of all the horror stories I've read here on RS.

Will not return.

(Edit: I was given a gift certificate so I had to use it. I would not have gone on my own will.)

5 guys burger in downtown (near robson I think)

8.5/10

Got the cheeseburger with my usual assortment of condiments and a large fries. I wasn't sure if they were going to fill up the bag with fries US of A style and was not disappointed with the generous amount dumped in my bag. One large fries can feed 2-3 people easily.

The burger itself was not bad, would have liked the patty a bit more well-done but overall good. It was around 6pm at the time and was packed from the time we ordered to the time we left. For around 15$ with burger, insane amount of fries, and unlimited drinks, you can't go wrong!

I was given a $100 prepaid card as well. Would never return unless it's free

If I go to any "steakhouse" below the keg minimum ill see if anything other than the steak appeals to me. Don't trust the people at these
Places to cook a steak correctly. Even at the keg I'm partial to getting the prime rib over a filet or a bone in rib steak etc because the quality of meat just isn't there IMO

Shang Noodle House, Richmond, BC, Saba Rd.

8.5/10.

Consistent quality noodles.
A lot of choices.
Good Value.
Big bowls.
Nicely appointed seats and seat cushions (I'm a big fan of well maintained seat cushions)
Good location.
Parking is only "okay", but it is free at the back (you have to get a parking decal from the restaurant), but I usually just park at the front anyway, to save the walking distance.

Try it.

I've been eating there about once every two to three weeks, for lunch, for the last year.

It's good.

Lupo Restaurant

9.5/10

Service was excellent. Never had such attentative servers and such to ensure quality of food and service. I got the lamb and dear Lord was it delish. The lady had the risotto nero and was great as wel.

Price was on the medium/heavy side but for the occasion it was gooood.

wings pub on kingsway.

Oh the hat trick.. honey garlic was bomb X_x

watching UFC with a packed restaurant, I was surprised the service was REALLY REALLY good... like asking us for drinks all the time and if anything was OK. Most places, the servers don't even come unless you ask...

Nice restaurants and good pictures.

I would love to try those restaurants in France!

Some questions:
How was the pricing in Euros?

Was it comparable with similar restaurants in Vancouver?

Was it fully booked at the time you went?

Did you have to make reservations more than a week in advance (or how many days before)?

I can't think of any restaurant in Vancouver that could compare to those restaurants. The precision involved in multiple michelin starred restaurants is for the most part, unmatchable. The only world class restaurants here in vancouver, in my opinion, are la quercia and l'abattoir.
Can I ask Nates, are you tied into the food industry in any way, Or just an educated aficionado?

for resto, i would definitely go to poxpox, and OX. I wanted to go to le pigeon, but they were completely booked up.
Voodoo doughnut is worth a go too, great doughnut, get to say you've been once. Cheap too.
food carts, there are too many. i only tried a couple, eurotrash and the people's pig both were great. Lots of mexican, gyros, viet, and thai carts but it wasn't my thing.
If you happen to be there on a saturday, make sure you hit up the farmers market @ PSU

Gang Nam Korean BBQ in Richmond.

8.5/10

Food was great and relatively cheap for Korean BBQ. Service was very friendly too.

I dont think comparable, but on a Vancouver "scale", I would lean towards The Pear Tree, Diva@Met, and Hawksworth

I always forget about hawksworth. From what I've heard its definitely in the playing field of world class restaurants. I make a cooks wage though, so I won't be there anytime soon haha.

I have never been, but at the north east corner of Fraser and Kingsway (where Ba Le is) there's a Mexican place called "Sel y Limon" or something like that.

If you go, please take pictures and a short review. Thanks!
