I tried the new American McDonald's fish and chips McBites and they are pretty good.
Much better than I expected. Lightly battered with good amount of fish.
9/10.
Needed more tartar sauce as they didn't give us enough.

Nanaimo Sushi
4/10 I don't even..
Rice was mushy as hell, the Takoyaki tasted raw and like goo, sushi pieces were falling apart before we even picked them up.
"Spicy" tofu tasted like "sweet" tofu.
Music was loud, servers were yelling across the restaurant at each other.

Ugh.

One server was kinda cute though +1

Went to G-Men ramen with AW607 and a few other friends tonight. Food was alright. Wasn't anything mindblowing, but not terrible either. Just plain average.
Cute waitress though. She could narrate my entire life with that sing-songy Japanese of hers and I wouldn't get tired of it.

Went to Palki on Commercial Drive. What a great evening, We arrived not expecting much but the whole experience was amazing. From the decor of the restaurant to the service and food.

We had the Palki's Mixed Platter which consisted of vegetable samosas, chicken pakoras, and vegetable pakoras.

Entrees to share was the Prawn Goan Curry (Malaysian influenced) & Lamb Vindaloo with Garlic Naan and Onion & Cilantro Naan on the side.

Food 9/10
Service 10/10

Do not order the Tantan Noodles. Unless you really like oily peanut butter and noodles.

Isn't Dan Dan Mein like that everywhere? LOL

Golden Phenix Dim Sum (Nanaimo & Broadway) 7/10. Their dim sum was tasty and sizes where generous although they no longer use pushcarts. Also I wasn't a fan of their lobster dumpling, it was really just a shrimp dumpling with some really dry/old lobster garnish.

I usually get that with the deep fried pork chop.

I agree that it can be oily, and they are pretty inconsistent. I can still remember when the cook made it perfect. Noodles were just right and it wasn't as oily.

I think it's a hate it or like it dish.

EDIT: NVM, maybe I need to try a real shaighai place.

If you like Dan Dan noodles, try the ones at Long's Noodle House on Main Street beside Au Petit Cafe.

AGREED! I got it there one time and it was gross. Super oily and goopy. A bit too spicy for my taste and a pork chop that was fried like a crouton. Definitely avoid this dish if you're at No. 9

Sushi by Yuji

$65 for 2 people, omakase. Solid 9/10. Fresh tasting, terrific service. Restaurant was sadly empty on Saturday at 8pm. I hope they gain more fans soon.

1st dish - sashimi

2nd - ika with shisho, salmon with lemon

3rd - uni with ikura, negitoro with quail egg

4th - botan ebi, chopped scallop

5th - negitoro, spicy asparagus avocado

Extra - kohada

Bone Sushi

Aburi angel sushi. Basically 5 random nigiri sushi made into a round ball shape, served aburi. Think Miku/Minami, but a bit lighter on the MSG sauce.

Pictures taken with a stock Nexus 4

Pho99 Richmond Alexandria - 2/10

Pho broth was terrible, just salt no body or flavour. Good size portion of meat though.

The seafood noodle broth was decent.

New Desert Joint: Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery (Gilmore and Hastings Street, 4090 Hastings Street) Opened Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-8pm.

https://www.facebook.com/glenburnsoda

New place just opened up today. Tried it for the first time and it was da bomb.

The place is quite small and currently only has two 2-seater tables and about 5-8 bar stools at the counter. But they do offer take-out on all their items.

Mom and Pop shop, and everything there is done the original way.

I shared the Butterscotch Sunday and a rootbeer float with the GF and every bite was orgasmic. The Butterscotch was homemade and perfect.

I took some pics of what they have to offer, but sorry they are crappy iphone pics.

They also have a small candy bar, and you can also purchase different flavored soda's as well.

I also saw a couple pies, but I didnt pay much attention to it. I think they had an Apple and pecan pie.

Id rate this place 9/10.. They could use more tables, but they just opened up.

Pictures are your portion or portions for two people? Doesn't seem like it's enough food.

And I thought their omakase was $65/person?
