Sure enough, service was crap and the king crab did not taste fresh (except the deep fried one, but that's just masking it). In the end, you get what you pay for.

The Grille in Richmond (Country Meadows Golf Course)

7/10

Casual/Fine Dining, but food was average at best. Nothing too special. Not bad either.

Sal Y Limon 8.5/10

Not many mexican restaurants around east van.
Tried this place on kingsway and fraser. Was not disappointed. LOTS of different tasty sauces.

Will come back for sure

I'm sure their regular dishes are adequate. But there's just certain things people shouldn't bother to order in a mid-tier restaurant. Odds are, they'll scam you with these "special prices" or they're not very good at preparing the dish. It's not worth it when your entire visit will be determined by that single dish.

Fable kitchen on W4th ave
I had the duck breast with duck leg croquette, braised cabbage and turnips
Wife had Steak "frites" with black pepper jam and sautéed mushrooms.
Holy shit. Everything was perfect, the food was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, the service was friendly, sincere, attentive without being overbearing. The chef came over and introduced himself after the meal, and once finding out I also work in a kitchen brought us over dessert on him.
Food was 10/10 - creative, flavourful and perfectly seasoned
Service 10/10
Price 10/10 - 80 bucks after tip for 2 mains and a nice glass of wine and a pint.
I'd go expecting to spend 100-110 next time. I'd want another drink and an appy to really fill up.
If you are considering going here, don't consider, just go. Not only is the dinner awesome, it has such a positive vibe from the staff and customers alike. I'd be happy to go here for dinner and close it down with some drinks before heading out for a night partying.

Finally tried Toshi for the first time.
Thought it was good, didn't think it was anything special.
But then I'm not much of a sushi connoisseur.
Girlfriend loved it though.

Taco's are tiny ($2.50). Quesadillas are a little small. (~$8)
Huaraches and burritos were a decent size. (~$8)
Add a drink and a side (rice, soup, beans, or coleslaw) for ~$2. I ordered the rice, and she threw on some refried beans as well.

Their self-serve sauce bar is the shit. There's like around 10 different sauces for you to help yourself to.

Hubbub sandwiches on Hornby
A little pricey, but my god, do these hipsters know how to make a sandwich.
Coworker comes here all the time. And he said the two sandwiches worth getting are turkey and prawn.
Had the turkey. Straight bomb
Coming back for sure

Went there last month for V-day. As most people agree, restaurants will capitalize on that special day. Fable was no exception. The food was excellent but both me and le gf was still starving after a 4 course set his & her menu ($100). Went for ramen after. Told the waitress was expecting to be full after entree and she politely replied: this is a tasting menu.

I went to Fable for a custom family-style menu there for my cousin's birthday (business acquaintance with Trevor Bird) a few months back and it was pretty amazing including pork 3 ways; loin, belly and face:

Hows it compared to meat and bread? I usually go to meat and bread but I went to try hubbub once about a year ago when i used to work in the area and I didn't think it was that great ( i had the pork) but then again i guess i should try the turkey or prawn next time
