Ate at Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill in Steveston last night. Had the Blackened Salmon Caesar, which has chipotle caesar dressing. Truly amazing. I would go out of my way to eat there again.

Yea pretty chill place, but the dance floor literally had the musty clothes and OB smell of dirty hipsters. The dining areas are fine though.

Hue Cafe in Richmond - 9/10
Nice little lunch spot.
It's a cafe and not a diner, so their menu selection isn't as big as your average pho restaurant.
Chicken on rice was nothing to complain about.
Very clean and well kept. Friendly owners too. Would come back.

The Truffle House - 9/10

Had a ham & egg omelet and my friend had a chicken and fig panani sandwich. Great service and quiet ambient location as usual in West Vancouver.

Wang's Beef Noodle House on Granville St.

Got the usual Beef Brisket Soup, 8.5/10. Got the thick noodles and it was slightly overdone, but the soup was quite tasty and the meal was very filling.

Also ordered a mango slush and honeydew slush. Both were very good with generous portions. Will definitely come back again!

Worth trying?

Daily Grind at 1500 West Georgia.
Had a meeting in the building, stopped at this little cafe for lunch.

Not bad. Soup and sandwich, nothing special, but nothing to complain about. Friendly owners.

I felt like i've run out of places to eat.

I'm scared to eat at some of the highly rated places here (no offense but a lot of rs'ers have really really bad taste in food) but at the same time I'm scared to try new places because since I eat less i feel like I've consumed useless calories eating a bad meal.

I tried hubbub the other day. Pretty good. Got the pork, it's godlike.

We went to safeway deli last night. First thing I said was "man this is cheaper and 10000 times better than that subway garbage."

Stephos

I read reviews and was convinced this place would be overrated and boy were they right.
Not even a "but ___ made up for it." Everything was just super average.

Stood outside for a whole hour, albeit we had a party of 7 and people behind us in pairs or 3s would get seated once in a while during our wait.
Finally got seated and ordered a chicken+lamb souvlaki plate. The food took 10-15 minutes to come. As expected, portions were huge but food was not bad but nothing special and were actually really bland. Both lamb and chicken were a bit overcooked and dry. The potatoes in particular were disappointing because they'd half the potatoes and then grill them but I guess they forgot to turn them...leaving one side burnt as hell and rock hard.
I don't know how many times the waiters came around to refill our waters which I found kind of odd but whatever.
Also I couldn't help but notice the annoyingly dim lighting and how cramped it was in there.

5/10. Would not come back.

on a side note, i find some restaurants on the "popular" section of urbanspoon vancouver are kind of undeserving. ie japadog and, obviously, this place.

i marked a bunch of restaurants and put them on my wishlist and this was among one of them. i took it off though and it didnt get transfered over to my favorites unfortunately.

Here are my lists, if anyone has any comments about the restaurants in either one please feel free to post! maybe it'd save me a couple bucks too LOL

Spoiler!

Re: Splitz Grill in your wishlist

So far, it's been mixed reviews. You will either like it or you won't. So don't get upset if you don't like it. And there is no hype as far as I'm concerned.

ya. seems to be solid from what i read in the burgers thread.
my wishlist really is nothing fancy. i cant afford anything above $$ category nor do i really care to spend anything more that much on food.
Any recommendations/must try/personal favorites that fit my budget for me to try?

Donair King get the chicken

Babylon get the lamb.
