You can mix and match, went for the chorizos, salalmi, smoked prosciutto, brie cheese, fruity olives and organic mustard-honey. Tastes great but portions were small and left us wanting more. Ratings (8/10) Also stopped by at The Flying Pig. Really debated between this and the Wild Tale. Had the beef short rib croquette (6/10), beef carpaccio (6/10), and the pulled-pork poutine(7/10). -The beef short rib was meh, I was more excited about the spicy mayonaise dip. -the carpaccio was half decent, the flavours wasn't quite right. A better version of the beef carpaccio can be found at the Cactus Club -The pulled pork was rather dry, though nicely sweetened by the sauce |
I went to this new Irish pub a while back and didn't realize how badly I want to re-visit that place until recently. Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub on Main street literally beside the McDonald's and across from the Fiat dealership. The bartender there is super friendly. I usually stick with a pint of Guinness but the bartender asked if I've ever tried other beer from Ireland. I replied no and he offered me small samples of like 5 different beers. Didn't charge me, super cool. I got to try some Murphy's Stout which I regret having because I like it more than Guinness now but it is pretty hard to find. I ordered their fries. The best fries i've ever had. Oh my god. Rosemary garlic fries with bacon mayo. I feel silly for giving their fries a 10/10 but anything lower is wrong. |

I can verify, their rosemary garlic fries are amazing |
Flying pig 7/10 Had the sablefish w/ lobster bisque risotto. It was alright. It was around ~$30 I like the sablefish @ suika way more almost the same portion and it's only ~$12 |
Bean Bros. Cafe in Kerrisdale Pizza: 5/10 - a bit salty, and not really anything to write home about. Burger (Chipotle) with bacon/cheese/mushroom - 9 /10 - Best burger I've had since Shake Shack. Bacon was crispy, and mushroom was seasoned and sauteed to perfection. They serve beer, too! |
big chicken town 7/10 korean fried chicken & beer i would prefer eating zabu chicken doe its crispier |
Just a heads up if some of you plan on going to phnom penh. They will be closed till April 3rd for vacation. |
@Presto .. NO way as good as shake shack?? |
Belgard Kitchen 6.5/10 The only thing good was spaghetti nero, everything else was average or meh. Service was non existent |
On On Wonton House in Burnaby - 8/10 First time going; was hesitant about going to a 51 year old gwai-lo, 'colony far east' restaurant but the reviews were good and the inside was newly renovated. Outside still looks like a throwback to the 1960s. The food came very fast and it was cheap. Ordered 4 dishes and it was less than $40, plus it came with hot and sour soup, with two servings per dish (so 8 bowls of hot and sour). The H&S had shrimp and diced chicken inside. It wasn't too vinegary and the consistency was just right. People online mentioned that it was too bland, but it was perfectly seasoned. Everything tasted great, but the broccoli in my beef and broccoli had a strange aftertaste , probably from the baking soda. Also ordered general tso chicken and the fish variant of it (I forgot the name but the sauce was identical), plus garlic spinach and chicken. Service was adequate. Portions were crazy, so I have my next two lunches planned for the week. |
Miku for an anniversary dinner. Service was top notch and the food was expertly prepared. Sashimi platter was pricey, but they really loaded it up, the o-toro was absolutely delicious. Prawn fritters and the aburi sushi were excellent, only thing that was meh was the sunshine roll. 9/10 |

prices have gone up about $20 since the last time i was there, and it was good but i can't really justify paying $80 for a hunk of meat. |

Peckinpah. 7/10 Was craving some BBQ so decided to check this place out with the wife this weekend. I wanted to get their platters but they stopped that. Instead had to order a la carte. Got the ribs: tender, dry rub only so you have to add some BBQ sauce Got pulled pork: those were good too. Sides: hush puppies and butternut squash/veggie casserole. Nothing special. Server was friendly. Same with the bartender. Lots of diff types of beer on tap. Very Small place, had to wait for a table. IMO, better than Memphis blues. Definitely have to try more southern BBQ places here in Vancouver. |

Not local but there's a Vietnamese joint in Seattle downtown called Pho Bac. Solid food and price. Check it out if you're down there. |
Chili House in Langley. Indian style chinese food(Hakka). 10/10. Black bean chicken is amazing! |
