Specialty restaurant Smoked meat is time consuming to prepare on site. Let's put this into perspective vs something like Subway. http://s3.amazonaws.com/foodspotting...jpg?1419941416 I dunno man, I'd say 13 bucks for 6oz. of smoked meat sandwich is pretty reasonable considering the prices and actual quality at subway. At least I don't get beef that looks like it's been chewed on by a dog. Or a chicken patty that's like a nerf disc. http://s3-media1.fl.yelpcdn.com/bpho...i5Y4WtjQ/o.jpg |
Dunn's looks appetizing, but one day I gotta visit the Sandwich Nazi. 10-15 bucks for that sandwich that can feed a family of four and a story about hairy assholes on the side? It could work  |
I thought I heard that he retired? But yes it was quite epic, while we were chatting and he was making jokes he kept giving me free samples of every meat and cheese in the shop. I was actually getting kinda full by the time he tossed my football sub to me. To say the sandwich was "fully loaded" is an understatement. However it doesn't really all "go together", when you eat it as is, it's not the best tasting sandwich but you can literally take it apart and eat a different regular sandwich for a week! |
Mazatlan in Aldergrove 9/10 It's a hole in the wall place in an industrial park in Aldergrove. It's the real deal. Along with the excellent food, the owners, an older Mexican couple, are very welcoming. |
tim Horton. ordered a small coffe. desk person gave me a tall coffe |
saw the sandwich nazi movie at the film festival last year. if you havent seen it i highly recommend. also i can't believe subway costs $9+ tax for a basic sandwich these days. havent been there in years but i thought it was like 7 something after tax. |
Spoon Kitchen: 3/10 Little cousins gave us a groupon to Spoon Kitchen in Kits for xmas. Their intentions were in the right place, but the food on their '9-course tasting menu' was mostly pretty bad. Besides the opening papaya salad, pretty much everything else that wasn't deep fried, was extremely greasy. The main fish course was breaded, fried, then covered in a sickly sweet sauce. Mee goreng I am pretty sure they sauced with your standard table ketchup. Calamari was pretty decent, the batter stuck to it well and was tender. Roti canai was fine, but hard to mess that up. |
Shintaro Stewed Madai Head lunch special 8.5/10 https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...75&oe=577C1FA1 |
Keg Alberni Prime rib was great and my gf's steak was good too. I honestly believe this location is better than the other ones like Richmond and Burnaby. Service was on point from the server, except for the ditzy bimbo that led us to the table. 9/10 |
I usually only go there for the ditzy bimbos.... |

McDonald's "Create Your Taste" burgers @ Bryne Road/Market Crossing Coles Notes version: 9/10 Pros: Fast, friendly, service and a satisfying, tasty meal. Place your order in person or at the kiosk, grab a buzzer/number on the side, and take a seat. Great value. Cons: Beef patty could be jucier, but otherwise, a first world problem. I understand you cannot upsize your fries (at least not to my knowledge.) Stay away if: You expect a premium burger without the premium prices and want to compare to your burger experience in the US. Be realistic, okay? You need to know this: They offer this menu option within a specific time period, which I believe it ends at 7pm. Some topping items require an extra charge (i.e. guacamole, grilled mushrooms etc.) Edit: Had some people asking me about the McDonald's Create Your Taste. 1. Visit their website and read up a bit about it (it will clarify a lot of questions) - http://www4.mcdonalds.ca/createyourtaste/ 2. It is a pretty good burger if you are comparing to other fast food chains. I would say as good as some local restaurants. Better than Cactus Club. 3. It is an interesting experience, beyond what you would expect from McDonald's. Like I said, I was pretty impressed. 4. Not all locations offer it! Check the website - punch in your postal code and it will show you where the nearest location is. Looks like Market Crossing it the only one in Vancouver/Burnaby 5. Will it change your life forever? You bet it will! (just kidding) 6. Just enjoy the food. Spoiler! |
Those are the nicest looking McDs burgers I think I've ever seen... |

^Thanks for that.. going to the Canucks game tonight. Maybe I'll check this place out beforehand. |
Splitz is still my favourite burger joint in Vancouver. Great value, excellent burgers. Just a good, no non-sense burger. The McDonald's stuff does not compare hahaha If going with two people, share one basket of fries. It will be more than enough for two people! |
Wifey not into burgers for tonight.. any recommendations for somewhat upscale food but in a casual atmosphere? She's rocking a Canucks tee so I don't want her to feel out of place. If anyone knows a nice restaurant where tshirts are cool, please chime in? We were disappointed with Joe Fortes last time we went.. anyone have a recommendation? |
1) Tap and Barrel. love it here, beer is a tad week esp. when Craft is right across the street. Steak was great, the onion rings were great and their deep fried pickles fresh off the press is amazing. 2) Ask for luigi. Got there at 5:15 and we were already in line. 3rd in line is great but it slowly became 20+ people at 5:40. Small little place, ubt damn was food amazing. 1) brussel sprouts.. really? yes.. legit. 2) wine was MEH, didn't like it much 3) we had osmething like cous cous type pasta, very flavorful, I had the rabbit ravoli which was ok, maybe the smell was too much for me. Still a solid dish 4) fried polenta + another fried dish with achoives was awesome. 5) pina cotta dessert with prunes / cherry sauce was a great way to end the dinner. would definitely go back, bill was ~100 bucks + tax and tipfor 2 people. 3 appys, 2 main course, glass of wine, 1 dessert. not too shabby. I wish I don't have to line up for food. |
should i go craft or tap and barrel? |
craft if u like drinking lol, food is ok.. never had an positive experience at tap before and im pree surprised someone is sayin the steaks are great there lol |
