yeah it was ridiculous. I thought that maybe they wanted me to show proof that it was $2.50, or maybe they wanted to check my car while they were at it... but nope - I just walked in and they asked for money.

I was confused

I always wondered how people come back without getting checked. I see cars just drive off without going into the customs to declare anything. It's pretty obvious most of the guys, aside from the ones working there, is picking up something. I want to know their excuse!!

Just tell them the truth, depending on how nice the canadian customs are, they'll let you off to a certain extent.

I came back with a cat converter and got through no problem

LOL I would have no problem putting 20 cents on my Visa.

They didn't tax my $240 camera.

the highest amount of goods that i did not get taxed on was my exhaust

it was 450usd

the lady was nice, i had my invoice in hand and told her the amount that was on it.

sometimes, being honest to them may help

i picked up many things in PR, but never actually got hassled or taxed.

just be honest and have your invoice in hand

nah, maybe the guy was new and was told that "all goods declared needs to be taxed", or they did see something in my car they wanted to double check without me knowing. I don't blame them, they were just doing their job and it only took another 5 minutes or so

most of the time the guards are pretty nice and don't get to stingy on taxing you

but what i learned from last visit is never follow a minivan cuz they searched the van then when i was up next, they searched mine

luckly i had nothing in the trunk

Totally varies. I've had several $200 items go by fine, but one time got taxed badly on a $150 item... something to the tune of 25%, so I paid an extra $50 on that. Always had receipts on hand too.

Also I don't really trust that Can-AM, I tried it once and my mileage was noticeably bad with it. I go to their Chevron all the time now instead.

Meh, gas is gas. Maybe I've been lucky but I've never had any problems with "bad gas" ever, in 11 years.

I just fill up wherever it happens to be cheap. Locally, that means Superstore. In the states, USA Gasoline is the cheapest.

If your car runs crappy, I'd check the other internals before just blaming the gas station.

I find the quality of 89 gas in Canada to be better than the Chevron 89 in Point Roberts.

how? how can you quantify the quality of the gas

and even if that were true (which is crazy when you think of all the millions of cars in the US using this gas, they all run just fine - the argument that cdn gas is superior is so stupid) put in 91, or even 92 for A LOT cheaper still
