Guy named "Dallas Dave" claims to have contacts, claims Florida is trying one more time to sign Bouwmeester and if he doesn't sign he will be moved to Vancouver for Ohlund, Raymond and a conditional pick that depends on how far the Nucks go in the playoffs.
Also claims Predators claiming Satan, Moore likely to Calgary. Quote:
Hey guys,
I spoke to a source close to the Dominic Moore camp early this afternoon, and their side is basically waiting to be dealt. Moore wants to stay in Toronto badly, but also realizes this may be his only chance to cash in on a big UFA deal. If he has to Burke will likely trade Moore on his own, and take the compensation back (likely a second rounder), but he's going to explore options of packaging Moore with another player to try and get a prospect back.
Columbus and Vancouver are in the mix on Moore, but don't count out the Calgary Flames. While many are chasing rumours about the Flames going after Jokinen, there's a lot of support for avoiding the Fin, to give them a better chance to re-sign Mike Cammalleri.
The name I'm hearing on Calgary's end would be prospect Kris Chucko who plays the type of game Burke loves in his bottom 6. The rumoured deal right now would send Moore and Ponikarovsky to Calgary for Chucko and a 2nd. It seems that Jacques Martin has made one last push in an attempt to sign Bouwmeester to a long term extension. That push has failed and while the Panthers may keep him they are also shopping him around. An offer out of Vancouver has gotten their attention. The offer involves Mattias Ohlund, Mason Raymond and a conditional draft pick going to Florida in exchange for Bouwmeester.
Florida believes that they may be able to sign Ohlund long term and that he can eat up some of Bouwmeester's minutes keeping them in the playoff hunt. Raymond is a good young forward who helps them not only now, but also in the future.
Vancouver wants to upgrade their defence, and in Bouwmeester would have a real superstar to run the powerplay, play on the PK and play against other team's top lines on even strength. They have plenty of cap space next year and will make a serious pitch to sign Bouwmeester long term.
The Conditional Draft pick will depend on how far the Canucks go in this years playoffs and if they can get Bouwmeester signed; but it could potentially be a first rounder.
Jacques Martin is said to be strongly considering this offer. He could potentially wait right till the deadline in deciding whether or not to pull the trigger. In their situation, the decision to move or keep Bouwmeester is not an easy one for Florida.
Something else to keep an eye on is the Nashville Predators may be backing off Alex Ponikarovsky and looking to put a waiver claim in for Miroslav Satan. The Preds are known for skimping pennies and David Poile would love not having to give up his prized prospect, Cody Franson.
I will be working the phones late tonight and will hopefully have another update for you this evening.
I've had a couple people PM me to ask how I know what I know, here's a little background on me:
I'm prominent businessman and Stars season ticket holder from the Dallas Fort Worth area. Grew up in Ottawa and stayed until I completed my masters in Economics. After working for Bell for several years in Montreal and the GTA, I then established myself in Phoenix as a consultant in the client service industry. Five years later I've settled in Dallas and am currently pursuing various business ventures.
All companies I've worked with had direct corporate sponsorship with local NHL teams. Being a former university and junior player, I was able to make a lot of decent contacts throughout these cities.

| I've always loved Ohlund as a Canuck but if this trade is on the table then I hope Gillis/Martin pull the trigger on it. |
