I don't think Seattle would work.

If they can't support the NBA (much higher ratings compared to NHL) then there is no way an NHL team will last there.

This brings another good point about an NHL team in Vegas.

If NFL, NBA, or MLB hasn't expanded to Vegas, what makes NHL think they will be the first.

Does anyone else on here have to sneak out of work for early games? I'm so glad my boss is a hockey fan and lets me leave early because I have friends who can't even leave 5 minutes early or listen to the game on their computers.

seattle CAN support the NBA, the new owners moved the team against their previously stated promise not to. dont you remember the huge uproar from the city? there was a HUGE petition to keep the team and the city tried to sue the new owners. seattle could support an nhl franchise, there's a ton of canadians that live in or near seattle... and not that they'd drive to seattle for every game, but spokane and yakima are both hockey obsessed towns that would be great feeder markets to drive tv ratings. PLUS, it'd be a natural born rivalry between seattle and vancouver.

as far as realignment of divisions, colorado would take phoenix's spot in PD and seattle would slide into the NWD and create a nice little pocket for those teams to travel in.

shawn79 05-07-2009 03:07 PM

"They got a 3-0 lead and just flipped the puck out of their own end, playing a very simple game," said Kane. "It's something like Minnesota would do. Maybe, if we get the lead, that's something we can do. But in the end, we're not going to try and trap it up with all the speed we have, all the skill. That's really not our game."

I think you might be the only one that took that as a compliment... lol
I believe in general, the trapping defense is frowned against, especially for more "skilled players/team" that focus more on offense and scoring. So Kane just tried to say Canucks are simple, and they trap once they get the lead. And that Chicago is a more faster and skilled team that would not play the trap even if they were in the lead because they are better than that (canucks and the trap system).

So fuk Kane. lol

But doesn't matter how we interpret that message, we both want the Hawks to get their ass kicked tonight.
