lol... at least they don't have hobos/drug addicts around that area

Harvey Specter 05-06-2009 11:10 PM

OT but I heard the Wash. Caps arena was located in a ghetto until they cleaned the area up around the arena a couple years ago. I think it was Gord Miller on TSN who was saying the area was quite scary.

Next time someone talks about bandwagonning or being a real fan,
they should take a look at this.

I assure you, this guy wasn't a bandwagonner.

Hmm, I was able to see it fine. Anyways, it some crazy Aresnal fan that hung himself after the lost to Man U. Stupid!

Strange, BlackV62K2 got it to work.

Link again.

An Arsenal fan hung himself following his team's 4-1 aggregate drubbing by arch-rivals Manchester United in the Champions League semi-final, police said.

Suleiman Alphonso Omondi, a 29-year-old Kenyan living in the capital Nairobi's Embakasi neighbourhood, hanged himself in his Arsenal shirt after the match.
"We were watching the match at Bamba 70 pub, and when Arsenal was defeated, Suleiman just walked out in protest and he was crying," Calvin Otieno, one of his friends, said.
"We didn't know he was going to hang himself until this morning when we received the reports and came here to find his body at the balcony," Otieno said outside the deceased's home.

Arsenal slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, capping a disappointing season for the Gunners who were already out of the Premier League title race early in the season.

Hockey fans will never be able to compare with the psycho soccer fans... :(

My stance on this is from a fans point of view....moving franchises hurts the fans who've been comitted to their teams...also the workers and local industry that relied on the team.

Phoenix/Glendale hasve everything set in place to support the team...they got a brand new stadium built for them...get rid of Wayne Gretzky and start winning...then you'll see fans returning and supporting the team.

All Im saying is setting up shop and then bailing is a coward thing to do.

A sports team is like any other business. If you owned a business and you were losing money, what would you do? Moving the team makes the most sense from a business point of view.

If we were to use fan arguments, then Winnipeg should have never moved to Phoenix in the first place. Nor should have the Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis. But, sentiments are cheap - it's all about the money.

Personally I would rather see a team in Winnipeg, Vegas, Kansas or Houston before another Southern Ontario team, I just hate everything to do with Toronto/Ontario that much. Hell sometimes I wish I were a terrorist and could dirty bomb the entire city of Toronto :haha:

So he hung himself because his team choked?

The Coyotes play at Jobing.com Arena, which is the building closest to the dome on the top, on the left side.

Yes. Die-hard fan to the extreme. Any Canuck fan here gonna try to match him if Canucks don't grab the cup this year?

"They got a 3-0 lead and just flipped the puck out of their own end, playing a very simple game," said Kane. "It's something like Minnesota would do. Maybe, if we get the lead, that's something we can do. But in the end, we're not going to try and trap it up with all the speed we have, all the skill. That's really not our game."
i see how it is kane...
and wtf is "trap it up" tryin to sound like he's black

haha...they're just sore losers.
A win is a win, no matter how you get it. If they were that good, they would have been able to use their so called speed to work around it.

I'd love to see the see the Canucks take them at home in 5. That would make the victory that much sweeter.

lol what a loser...

no demitra or salo still for game 4, bummer..

I don't understand why you guys are offended. If anything it was a slight compliment.

I wasn't offended by the comment. It just sounded like Kane was a bit bitter and was criticizing our style of play when we had the lead. (although most teams with a lead would probably do the same thing)

I'm not sure if was meant to be a compliment though. Especially the comparing to Minnesota part. :D

I think it was a remark of the system Minnesota employs and not a remark on the success of the Wild team. I remember when Boston beat Vancouver 1-0 and they played the exact same way the Minnesota did. So in totality, I think it was just an overall remark on the effectiveness of the system's defensive game.

I remember the year that NJ won the cup, the people on sportspage or TSN said the NH arena is in a very bad part of town.

As for Vegas getting an NHL team, I can't see it really working since a) Vegas itself is in some trouble since the recession started
b) not enough people who care about hockey will go to watch a losing team
c) weather does not help. When it gets really hot, the ice inside the rink will be very poor.

I remember someone mentioned something Gretzkey said when he first joined the Kings. There was a park with tennis courts and a few kids were playing hockey. When he left LA, that same tennis courts had a sign up on the wall that said no hockey was allowed.
Basically you need to get people to play the game, then they will be interested in watching the game.

Armind 05-07-2009 01:17 PM

Game day baby!!!

punkwax 05-07-2009 01:25 PM

Team in Vegas would be awesome. Fly in, watch a game and fly home for the same cost as watching @ GM place + parking and beers. lol

Seattle would be ideal for Canucks fans trying to catch a cheap game.
