Which courses are really bad and everybody says to stay away from.
Philosophy or psychology

Should I look into philosophy as B-Hum? Are there any B-Hum's that require reading only the slides to do good on midterm and final?

And any insight on ENSC 100 Writing? It has engineering in the title which sounds scarry :P, but otherwise it might look like a straightforward course?

Has anyone had experience talking to an advisor about getting into a full course? Were you successful? Why or why not?

A course I need is full for spring and isn't offered until next fall but I would like summer to be my last semester.

FI-Z33 11-14-2012 06:02 PM

^ i have! As longs you have a sound and reasonable explanation as to why you need the course then they might let you in. I needed crim 330 when it was full. It was a prerequisite to a lot of other upper level electives that I needed. If I didn't take it in the summer, it would have postponed every other course by another semester.

It seems like you have a reasonable explanation as you need thag course to ensure you graduate on time.

Join us tomorrow and stand up for public education!

Quote:

On Thursday, November 15th at 11:30 am, TSSU members & supporters will gather in Convo Mall on Burnaby Campus and march together to Strand Hall, to proclaim that “we are the teachers, we are SFU, and we want a fair contract now”.

Thank you so much for your efforts so far in supporting the job action and supporting the picket lines. Every time we raise our collective voice, the employer listens, which has led to the TSSU gaining more in the past two months than we’ve seen in the past two and a half years towards getting a new collective agreement.

But signing off on small matters of language is not enough. The Employer has yet to show the TSSU that they are prepared to bargain fairly and properly address the issues that are most pertinent to maintaining high educational standards at SFU. We must raise our voices together and let them know we will not be silenced.

We are asking for your help to make this a high impact event;

Rally your departments including members, faculty and students. This is an inclusive event for all of our supporters. We need to show Strand Hall that we want the strike to be over, but that it won’t happen until we negotiate a fair contract.

Hot chocolate and samosas will be served.

Please invite your students and other supporters by forwarding the following:

“We at the TSSU have been without a contract for over 2.5 years and have been using job action for the past few months to force the Employer to take the bargaining process seriously. As a student, your patience and support during this job action has made a vital impact. Now you have the opportunity to come and stand with us to make a difference. This Thursday, November 15th we will be gathering in Convo Mall at 11:30 am and marching to Strand Hall to tell the Employer “we are the teachers, we are SFU, and we want a fair contract now”. We are inviting all our supporters to join our voice to proclaim loudly that we want the strike to be over, but that it won’t happen until we have a fair collective agreement. Meet us in Convo Mall on Thursday at 11:30; raise your voice with ours; make sure SFU hears every voice in its community. Hot chocolate and samosas will be served.”

Could you share those b-hum and comment how hard/easy they were and the amount of time you have to dedicate to get a high decent mark? (b+ and higher maybe)

vyrospec 11-14-2012 10:19 PM

@ messerschmitt

i took eng104 and phil100
engl was aright, got a good prof and TA + frds to work with, i bs-ed my way to get a B
phil not so great, im more of a quantitative person can't think beyond/desire to question
ended with C :okay:

mwoo 11-14-2012 10:39 PM

yeah i got 65 on the first midterm for arch ;_; the written is so easy but if its a question you don't know... 15 marks right there

RacingMetro92 11-14-2012 10:59 PM

I did support the TSSU until that video with Leyland came out. I think more students are mad at the union than the school now. I also think that there are some people WITHIN the union that don't like how they're handling the strike internally. I've heard a lot of workarounds of that "withholding marks" protocol they have in place right now...shows that the union is pretty divided.

wuuhoo 11-15-2012 08:30 AM

for those who are in bus 360: who are you taking it with? would you recommend taking it with him/her?

I am looking at either:

jones
susan bell
gibson
tung
