Fido is really unorganized.

Everytime I call back, my plan gets better and better by itself without me asking for anything.

From early August when I first attempted to getting an iphone til now, my plan went like this:

First Attempt)
Paying 180 cancellation fee of current contract
Keeping my plan contract:
-200 daytime minutes
-unlimited evening/weeknight from 5pm
-voicemail, caller id, name display, call waiting
-fido to fido/rogers network calling
- 2500 SMS, 100 MMS
Adding 100MB Data Flex plan for 10 dollars
TOTAL: 37.50 + 180 cancellation fee

Second Attempt)
180 Cancellation fee WAIVED (I guess because they screwed up my order or because they fucked up)
Keeping my Existing plan but taking off MMS(5 dollars) and taking off Fido to Fido/Rogers(10 dollars)
Adding 500mb iphone value pack(30 dollars with 10 dollar credit)
TOTAL: 37.50

After buying phone in store I called back to make sure everything was ok

Third attempt)
180 still waived
Keeping my existing plan
Keeping 500mb iphone value pack (which this guy says INCLUDES mms)
Keeping fido to fido/rogers for FREE
TOTAL: 37.50

So basically I got 500mb data for 5 bucks on top of my old plan. Go figure.

200 daytime minutes
unlimited evening/weeknight from 5pm
voicemail, caller id, name display, call waiting
fido to fido/rogers network calling
2500 SMS, 100 MMS
500MB Data



Also even tho they fucked up and said they messed up my order on the phone. Apparently I was back ordered anyway and they are shipping me a phone even tho I bought one in stores. Am I getting it for 649? 159? free???

this is pretty much standard with what they are offering for retention plans. the only difference is the fluctuation in $

you don't just call in and ask for that plan dude LOL. you gotta call, threaten to cancel your plan and move with WIND BELL OR TELUS cuz rogers is part of fido.. tell em you looked around and asked for a better plan and would like to stay with fido if they can offer you something better.

then tell them you been asking your friends about their plans and read online about other peoples plans and offers and then tell them the plan you want and see what happens.

its also helps not to be a dick as they can flag your account

is video calling (for iphone4) part of your data plan? or does it count as MMS ? ( does mms count as data plan?)


also i got the 6gb data plan.. does it cost extra or activation of some sorts for TETHERING?

Not being a dick and being understanding with them is a plus. But don't be TOO nice or you wont' get anything. I learned that myself.

Say you don't feel you're getting the best plan for that price especially when your friend has a better one. Say you just you're not looking for anything crazy but just something decent you can be happy with.

MMS is just picture texting which not everyone has.

Videocalling uses wifi only (unless you jailbreak and download the program that tricks the phone into thinking it's on wifi when it's really on 3G and uses your data)

Basically, data = being able to use the internet when not connected on wifi

so i just got email from FIDO yesterday for order confirmation and now today i got one saying the phone+sim has been shipped to me ( wow that was super quick)

but im not sure about this part.. it says its been shipped but right underneath it says

wow i ordered my iphone 2 days ago, got the confirmation/shipping email yesterday

GOT IT DELIVERED TODAY!!! ( with microsim included as well!)

a total of 2 whole days


talk about being lucky considering some people had to wait 1-2 weeks after ordering from retentions lol

How did you guys get the iphone or know to phone retention??.. did you just call everyday into they had it in stock? LOL
