Hey Vansterdam, when you called Retentions how did your conversation go?

I'm already on a retention plan and hoping to get an iPhone 4. I called CS and I qualify for special pricing. The CSR said I could get the iPhone for $359 with a renewed 3 year contract (I can keep the same plan). I don't plan to get a data plan so that's why its $200 more.

How much data u have??

before i even called and asked about the iphone4, i threatened to cancel my contract (said i looked around wind,bell,telus and NOT ROGERS since they are part of fido)

then i told them what other providers were offering me and how my friends all renewed with fido and got this killer retention plan .

i showed them the plan everyone on here was getting and told them i would like to stay with fido IF they can offer me the same plan since i been with them for 5+ years (with a shitty ass plan) even though i had 1.3 years left i still threatend to cancel lol.


once i got the plan that i wanted, i asked if they had the iphone4 in stock and if they dident i just asked if they can save the plan i want with a reference number for that I can go to an apple store OR call retentions in the future and once they do have it in stock.. then i can just tell the person that i already have a agreement i would like activated with the purchase of my phone


preety much how it went within a 2 week span lol



if you dont mind me asking what is your current retentions plan? if dosent hurt to add 500mb if you dont already.. iphone4 with data is the shit!


i suggest if your retention plan isnt as good as the ones posted on here earlier, your better off threatening to cancel and try hustling your way into a better plan + phone :)

It comes to 42.xx per month with taxes which is decent I guess. I wonder if I can get a better retentions plan even though I'm already on one.

Anyways, I talked to Retentions earlier and the woman said that I can get the iPhone 4 for $159, keep the same plan I got, and add 500mb for $10/month. She also said that I would have to find an iPhone at a retail store first though. Can't I just get them to ship me one?

^ yup but to do that your gonna have to call retentions everyday and ask if they have it in stock lol ( beats lining up for hours )

and then once they do have it stock you can tell the retention person that you called in before and this is what the person offered you.


to makes things less confusing once you call retentions and got a plan you like but there is no iphone in stock.. just tell them to keep the info of the plan onto your name with a reference number and you can give the reference number to the new person you talk to once they got the iphone in stock



ps you should also see how much you get the 6gb data plan added on

I read that thread on hofo on this new retention deal. I just renewed my City Fido contract early so it doesn't expire till Sept 2014 and was wondering what my chances of getting the new $50 Unlimited North America retention plan? The chance of getting it is probably not very good at all I assume. Right now I'm paying $108 after taxes for my plan :eek5r:

I was able to get the $50 unlimited North America with not much of a hassle even with 49 months left on my contract. They just kept asking me where I got the code from at least 5-8 times and I told them my friend got this plan yesterday and gave me the code. I don't think they want people to know about the code or something.

Finally bringing in some of those North America plans. I remember having a Voicestream/T-Mobile plan years ago where it was 500 anytime mins, no roaming or long distance in North America.

its like this with all carriers in the states, no roaming/nation wide long distance to any number.

These fidos ones are better cuz they include cross border too to the USA. US providers still charge LD for calls to Canada. Are these fido plans no roaming as well?

i reclarified the no-roaming on these new plans and one rep said that currently there STILL ARE roaming charges when you cross the border to the states...for now.

the rep said that they do have something in the works for the no roaming charges, just to catch up with other providers, but she doesn't know when it will be released. best thing to do is to call like on a monthly basis or something, as she suggested, and just ask what offers they have. they can just changed the retention plan you have "just like that", " all you need to do is ask".
