I think it is pretty low and tasteless, but then I think Apple's own video is low and tasteless as well (contrary to many people who think apple's advertisements are brilliant, I think it is just a bunch of bullshit)

So yea, if they are trying to imitate apple, they did a pretty good job.

hahaha.... they did a pretty good job. whatever - it was nowhere as offensive as i thought it would be. they didn't flat out insult any of the other chinese clubs.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Geez wtf is this...I'm not offended, but the videos made me lose quite a bit of respect that I had for CVC before. The characters just made CVC look like a bunch of stuck-up snobs, and having worked on a few Honger club ski trips before, I know that they're way more successful than they make it look. Granted, I'm referring to the big one with three clubs behind, and of course one of those clubs are always big douches when it comes to promo. Honger club vs. Honger club, Hongers win? :p

But back to topic, I'm totally not impressed with the vids. Not very classy there, guys. :mad:

LOL agree on the ski-trip part, they gotta do their math properly, honger clubs get just as many people....

I also wonder if that honger guy is in CVC, i mean how can he sell his own peoples like that? Still I lol'd at the video

That guy was clearly not Honger, just look at him and listen to his lousy accent. That being said, his "DIU" was pretty well done. :lol

I remember being introduced to the histories of CSA and CVC when I was a first year, and I could see that those clubs at least were integral decades ago to the Chinese community at UBC. Not too sure about building multicultural bonds, I don't know enough to comment on that, but this clearly is just making fun of the less-Canadianized Chinese folk.

Any more news on what's happening now? AMS drop the hammer on them yet? Responses from the other cultural clubs at UBC?

Honestly, i think this has been blown way out of proportion.
How often do you see Native Chinese people making fun of GWAI LO's and foreigners. Chinese people in general make a shit load of derogatory comments.


Also, i have a friend who is Japanese and when he attended a typical CSA, TA, Yours, event, they only spoke in chinese. Are they not discriminating against other ethnic groups?
