'Word on the street' from the Ubyssey (UBC campus newspaper) http://www.ubyssey.ca/?p=4081 |
I think it is pretty low and tasteless, but then I think Apple's own video is low and tasteless as well (contrary to many people who think apple's advertisements are brilliant, I think it is just a bunch of bullshit) So yea, if they are trying to imitate apple, they did a pretty good job. |

hahaha.... they did a pretty good job. whatever - it was nowhere as offensive as i thought it would be. they didn't flat out insult any of the other chinese clubs. that being said - whoever said that Lan parties aren't fun....? :P |
btw, that link wasn't the "offensive" one... found it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7BbAI7ZKoU and this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDA8Xvc8ga8 |
The THC dude sounds like 'Phuc Dat Bich' from that clip about Pho. If anyone remembers hahaha |

they should get the boot for the bad acting and production. edit: the guy is a total tool. he probably doesn't even know what a honger is. I laugh at these kind of people that have no sense of culture and don't know where they come from. |
this is waaaay better |

But back to topic, I'm totally not impressed with the vids. Not very classy there, guys. |

I also wonder if that honger guy is in CVC, i mean how can he sell his own peoples like that? Still I lol'd at the video |
That guy was clearly not Honger, just look at him and listen to his lousy accent. That being said, his "DIU" was pretty well done. :lol I remember being introduced to the histories of CSA and CVC when I was a first year, and I could see that those clubs at least were integral decades ago to the Chinese community at UBC. Not too sure about building multicultural bonds, I don't know enough to comment on that, but this clearly is just making fun of the less-Canadianized Chinese folk. Any more news on what's happening now? AMS drop the hammer on them yet? Responses from the other cultural clubs at UBC? |
Honestly, i think this has been blown way out of proportion. How often do you see Native Chinese people making fun of GWAI LO's and foreigners. Chinese people in general make a shit load of derogatory comments. Also, i have a friend who is Japanese and when he attended a typical CSA, TA, Yours, event, they only spoke in chinese. Are they not discriminating against other ethnic groups? |
LOL : "hey, who dat gwai lo?" I find it pretty funny, but I can't see how thats offensive in any way and i'm honger...maybe it's because i'm not as "honger" as the "typical hongers" are but I think its acceptable.. |
lol u see shit like this all time, i thought it was funny however, for an established university club to be posting this kinda childish shit makes them look really unprofessional even if it is representative of the views of many of its memebersm to openly post something like that to the public is pretty low... |
So they are a Chinese club that is racist against Chinese??? |
the vids are more annoying that insulting |
 From: 1. Hong Kong 2. Taiwan 3. Richmond 4. Richmond 5. China |
SFU = all honger or taiwan clubs. Well, just the 3 or 4 and then that is it for SFU. SFU sucks. |
What about CAC? The Canadianized Asian Club at SFU? |
a club is a club, especially if it's for social purposes. Just let them do what ever the hell they want. screw social expectations society imposes on them! We're all hipocrites anyways, I sure hope that KIM HO, sent all the national news papers complaints regarding Russell Peters, Dave Chappell, and every other non-white comedian in this world. Cause i'm sure they all make racial jokes. |
So anyone going to mirror a copy of that video yet? |
I will. Is it down already? |
Yup. They're all down. Just want to see this vid to know what all the fuss is about... |
