Saanich is no better, but I don't want them plowing the roads... lol. Drove some people home after a party last night, and neither McKenzie nor Shelbourne had seen a plow or salt truck. I have seen a few salt trucks today though.

IMO, they should just leave the f'in roads alone for now. There is way more traction on snow than ice. Tomorrow is supposed to get really cold, so I think anything they do today will just contribute to the roads being an ice rink tomorrow.

projectcivic 12-21-2008 12:22 PM

My condo over looks Vernon aka Blandshard and the plows have been going by pretty regularly. I agree about the traction thing, I would like to see them just skim the road to keep the snow levels down but not to completly clear it.

rental_metard 12-21-2008 12:34 PM

darwin / savannah hasn't been plowed, the rabbit has now carved a path down these roads :)

Super Dipper 12-21-2008 12:45 PM

hwy from royal into town was fine. Sannich > boleskine is deadly. the snow was just getting packed heavier and heavier, although i did see some plows heading towards saanich road near blanshard intersection about an hour ago.

burnside road is fine, mckenzie is good, bare and wet. Most of shelbourne is ok. When you get into Mount Doug Park, it gets a little slippery. Royal Oak drive has a single lane paved through. They could have done a better job, but it is drivable.

Cordova Bay road is slick, but way better than any of the side roads in the sunnymead circle. There is 1 lane paved through the sunnymead circle and its sketchy. Definately looks like a quick carve and run. Glad to see our tax dollars working so poorly.

anyways, hope that helps those that need to get out and about. I cant wait to see how icy it is when its time for me to work at 10pm

dustinb 12-21-2008 01:07 PM

Craigflower is very clear near tillicum. They have been plowing and salting all day.

Fleemer 12-21-2008 01:10 PM

The road at the end of my street is plowed... I tried to make it.

Damn you ditch! :O

Shelboure is clear. Mt Doug is a little slushy. The corners in the intersections in most places are rough.

The snow is starting to come down hard around Royal Oak and is stickng to the road again. Its going to get ugly here soon since the plows aren't comng aorund fast enough. Tomorrow morning is going to be interesting.

hmm, I followed two plows all the way down McKenzie at ~1ish, you must have passed earlier?

Not anymore... lol. Drove up it around 9:30pm and it was covered and slick. Same with McKenzie.

Approximately 11pm and 2:30am... I didn't see a difference between the two times. This was between Quadra and Shelbourne.

Black SC2 12-22-2008 06:30 AM

Roads in Langford are decent right now. Just drove wifey to work, and the roads were all plowed. I'd call it 'packed powder' and decent traction.

projectcivic 12-22-2008 07:34 AM

Blandshard and Finlayson at 645 this morning were passable.

gelatinous 12-22-2008 08:47 AM

just commuted from Sooke to James Bay (Dallas Rd.) and the roads weren't too bad, the Pulsar seemed to fair ok.

Craigflower is snow/slush covered starting at Admirals. Other then that no where was really that bad.

TouringTeg 12-22-2008 08:58 AM

Commerce Circle/Glanford/Vanalman was a mess this morning. Cars parked all over the place who can't get up the hill on one side of the circle. Snow a foot deep because it hadn't been plowed. I'm sure things will get better as the day goes on.

Great68 12-22-2008 08:59 AM

I was going good this morning until I found out Burnside was closed between Alpha and Dupplin.

I had to turn down Alpha, it wasn't plowed, I got stuck.

You'd think the City of Victria would plow a detour route that Buses have to use.

GregM 12-22-2008 09:16 PM

I got high centered on the snow at the bottom of the hill in the rabbit - headed downhill.

Who drives lowered cars in the snow anyways?

PS: Its Heather, not Greg.

rental_metard 12-22-2008 10:28 PM

I do, no problems

Make a youtube account if you don't already have one... And upload through there. It's really easy! But might take a while if the video's kinda big, so maybe compress it if you can.

I guess I'll post a couple of mine from picking up my brother from work Sunday night in a Civic...

This was on McKenzie by Carey Rd. Wasn't going too fast, and nobody was already.

This was on Cedar Hill. Lost control once at the end. Got it out after a couple pushes.
