Snow!!

Muhaha we've got snow up in courtenay meaning the mt will be opening soon (fingers crossed) got a few ideas for some new winter sports such as dragging friends behind the vehicle on a gt-racer. Anyone else got some sweet ideas for winter fun?

slammedcivicsi 12-12-2008 12:33 PM

sit in front of my fire, and wait till spring.

I plan on making something fast for winter... sort of a bad time for that but meh.

All I see is green!

jigga250 12-13-2008 09:40 AM

seems like usually whenever they predict snow as nearly a "sure thing" it doesnt snow at all, and whenever we get serious amounts they didn't didn't see it coming at all

It's hard to trust the weather networks. They always try and predict a week ahead, but really they usually can only predict a day at most.

It's been snowing in Sooke since about 3pm... finally just started to stick.

Lots of wood for the fire :)

Just drove from Duncan to Nanaimo. It was one lane most of the way. recorded the whole thing on my new samsung camera. The caterers who were at the party that I was DJing were from vic. The had to get a hotel because the Malahat is closed. Duncan is seeing a lot more snow than Nanaimo.

GregM 12-14-2008 12:32 AM

really? I just drove back from naniamo (I left at 10:30 and got home at 12:30) Worst snow I saw was just south of naniamo. And the hat was cleared of snow and heavily salted, so nothing was sticking on the road. Best chunk of road on the entire drive

fun times tonight

Super Dipper 12-14-2008 02:14 AM

^Yup. :D

I drove from Parksville to Victoria tonight, VERY happy with how the Jeep behaves in the snow, even with all seasons! The conditions out there were terrible, saw a number of people sliding around and some wrecks.

I left about 8pm and got to Vic around 11 I think.

Go slow, be safe!

projectcivic 12-14-2008 06:38 AM

Drove from down town last night to my place by save on foods on Blanshard and it was ugly driving. It reminded me why I need to buy something taller and with all wheel drive. It took me 30 mins cause everyone was driving so slow and sliding everywhere

igeemctwist 12-14-2008 07:42 AM

Ahhh snow has claimed its first victim that I know personally. About 1:00am last night one of my buddys ended up, what looks to be passenger door-side down in a 6-8 foot deep ditch.

AWD and 4x4 dont mean shit if you drive like an asshole, so everyone be safe!!!

Some girl walking through uvic made this on her camera phone.

Elevorett 12-14-2008 12:45 PM

could have sworn that looked just like a vid from years ago, but I must be wrong.

aspect 12-14-2008 01:27 PM

Haha, yeah they all kinda look the same. Here's another, made with another camera phone.

I actually enjoyed driving a stock WRX more in the snow...insta-spool turbo is great.

ness_71 12-14-2008 01:37 PM

I had to abandon my car at the bottom of a hill. It's only like 2 blocks away but.. I miss it.

ostampflee 12-14-2008 01:53 PM

I'm happy my driveway is no longer a skating rink... it was a PITA trying to torque down the all seasons on Kaity's Civic.

rental_metard 12-14-2008 02:28 PM

Gets who get drive an echo tonight in the snow!

Jewelz_firebird 12-14-2008 03:21 PM

The bronco is killer in the snow with my 33" thornbirds. Been trying to find a place with deep enough snow to throw it in 4x4.. havnt had the need to... I love it!!
