^ holy shit. |

this was earlier today... Due to electronics issue near Joyce Station, SkyTrain is separating the Millennium Line from the Expo Line. Millennium Line trains are running from VCC-Clark to Columbia Station then turning back at Columbia Station. Those wishing to go from Millennium Line stations to South Burnaby or Vancouver, or from downtown Vancouver on Millennium Line will need to transfer at Columbia. There are lengthy delays on the Expo Line as Sky Train attendants are manually driving the trains from Broadway to Metrotown. Lol, no snow, no rain and they still suffer massive fuckups. This calls for a nice raise and christmas bonus for all translink execs. |

Thats why i dont take public transit :p I rather pay for my own gas then deal with that shit. I rather be in traffic in a warm car than wait in the fucking cold. On a side note I wish my supra had a nice widebody kit like yours Jason! |

i wonder how it'll be like once 2010 comes around the corner. |

But then that kinda sucks for the snow sport events... :D Hopefully this year was an eye opener for Translink to make them aware of the deficiencies in the system under heavy load and inclement weather. They should use this as a worst case scenario plan and work to make it more efficient. To think a few trees and a faulty switch caused this much havoc. |
when it snows again within this winter time, translink is going to have many issues again. |
^agreed. I feel ya guys, I got fed up after the skytrain delay on xmas eve and walked it. Someone posted this before, but waiting for 1.5+hrs and then they tell us the train is not in service? That's bullshit. Tell us right away. I was at broadway skytrain station and I live in burnaby. I should have walked it right away. When it snows, people can't drive so they jamm up the transit system. The key is, get some winter driving gear and rip it down empty the roads. =) |

^ I think the issue was that Translink wastes the money they're given because there are many examples just in North America of Transit systems that are far superior in both service, routing and quality of structures yet their fares are cheaper than the ones we pay here. Montreal is a good example, tonnes of inclement weather, better routes, same bridge and traffic problems as Vancouver... less than half the price. You guys wouldn't believe the amount of USED reject rail from Germany being put on the brand new Canada Line or all the concrete rebar from China that isn't even up to specification being used in the poles along the sections in Richmond. The freaking center of the Olympic transportation hub relying on used German parts and out of spec China metal ---->>> that's Translink for you. |

Why are we have above ground skytrains? We should have a underground subway system that doesn't affect by the weather. Also, we should have glass windows at all the platform to prevent all maniacs from jumping on to the track to delay the system. |
^rofls they'll just jump through the openings when the train comes :D weee!!!! |

I don't get it!!!!1 Can someone please explain this to me.. okay.. so it snowed again today.. Why is transit still soo fuked up when it snows? This isn't the first time it snowed for this winter season.. is it going to be like this for the rest of my life in Vancouver? So each time it snows in Vancouver, we can kiss transit good bye? How many more times does it need to snow for this winter season to finally make transit do more about this?? I was stuck at 29th ave. again because buses stopped running /rant |

^^^ HA! I was right! |
Alright, late night question that needs to be answered or predicted by tomorrow morning. Did anyone see the number 27 bus break down on its route around 5-9? I am asking this because me and some friends are planning to watch a movie and it'll finish by 8. I for one, do not want to wait one or more hours for a bus to arrive like last time. And if you can, predict if it might break down tomorrow :P |
since coming back from Hong Kong for the winter holidays, i can really say that our metro system is like crap compared to the Hong Kong one in almost every way possible. First of all, why don't we have freaking subways...I understand that in Richmond we cannot have subways because of the land in which it resides on, hence no basements, but in van there should be a subway. Then all of this weather junk won't affect it. Plus they have the octopus card which is like a prepaid fare card that you reload. It costs about 12 HKD ( less than 2 dollars Canadian ) to get from "Tai Wo" in Kowloon Tong, which is like the part close to the China boarder to "Tong Lor Wan" which is in Hong Kong Island. Bascially to get from the top of the Hong Kong map to the bottem it takes me roughly 45 minutes...not bad. I actually have no problem with having to carry a prepaid card to use the skytrain if that means improving the transit system a good amount!! |
