This is all about the excitment around a cheap well designed RWD 2+2 coupe, something that was totally missing in the current market.

Add a turbo and LSD to the mix with zero KM and 5 years warrenty? Come on, you would have to turn in your enthusiast card if that didnt stir anything..

+And yes I agree the boost issue may have been the octane, plus it was almost out of gas. The thing loses 10HP when run with regular so the active knock sensor must be very active.

This car is good news not only for Hyundai but for car enthusiasts because I hope other manufacturers will follow and bring out more affordable RWD coupes. Thumbs up to Hyundai. They have produced something that appears well built, fun to drive and affordable.

I have a modified MS3, and even I'm thinking about a Genesis Coupe 2.0T.

Try that in a MS3.
I may not be able to drift my car, but enough of the engine dropping out bullshit. Read about it, get back to me.

Torque Steer? Unless you are 110lb soaking wet with twig-arms, this won't be an issue. Do you fit that description?

The Genesis and MS3 aren't really comparable. I can fit a queen size bed or 8 wheels in tires in the MS. The Genesis can drift.

Agreed, the MS3 is more of a family station wagon.

My family station wagon is no fun in the city.

Just sneezing on the gas pedal gets you doubling the speed limits

Family station wagon or not, they're pretty damn fast

What hyundai needs to make is a Genesis hatchback that looks exactly like the coupe but the rear glass portion flips up.

I mean I can put furniture into my AE86 and haul them around with the hatch closed I don't see why not on the Genesis Hatchback if the rear glass opens up.

if that 3.8 V6 is the same one as out of the eclipse thats a pretty decent motor too. put about 1500kms on one over the summer and i almost have to say thats the nicest V6 i've had the pleasure of driving. it absolutely loves to rev with gobs of torque and it doesnt feel strained, ever. it accepts throttle input like a B series honda, except it makes power instead of just all sorts of noise.

V-6 to V-6, it's about a 10k difference.

2 things I forgot to mention in my testdrive, on cold startup there was a loud throwout bearing noise/howl that came and went with the clutch pushed in and out, plus a serious shifter rattle at 4K and above.

Both problems went away after the car was hot. I chalk it up to a note from Hyundai saying you cannot have your cake AND eat it too...(at this price point) :P
