So I'm planning on getting my skates sharpen but I still don't know what works best.. The first time I got them they were perfect.. they dug into the ice without "sliding" when I push off. But after I gotten sharpened, don't remember which one the person gotten, they keep "sliding" as i push off. If it helps I'm about 5'7 and 140lbs.

Never shopped here before but Player's Bench in Colorado has them: BAUER STRAIGHT CUT HALF SHIELD
It's going to be difficult finding these now with them being discontinued as Bauer pushes their HDO product. I wear the same brand and cut visor and I stocked up on mine at the Canucks Sale last year.

But since then, I've tried the sportcheck flat bottom v 90/75 sharpen feels awesome, not too sharp but lots of bite. Granted I'm probably a lot stronger on my skates since my first sharpen, but give it a try!

i think ima pick up the oakley small cut. i just measured my hs22 and its a little longer then 3 inches.. i read online that the oakley is 2.5 inches.
i dont want the heatly look even though its much safer then the small visors.

The Pro Straight would be the most similar to HS22.
How low the helmet sits on your head and the length of your face will determine how "Heatley" it will look, or P. Kane I should say.  | |

In my opinion the Pro Straight small is very very thin and doesnt offer too much coverage at all. I call it the Geordi LaForge 
Most people are better off with the normal Pro Straight. I have 2 Oakley Prostraights and one HS23. They look and feel about the same. If youre wondering about the clarity of either, they both use the same HDO technology by Oakley. Bauer just uses it under license.

Again, your best to try out a cut and hit a public skate or something. If you were a kid, I'd say try the new cut before practice. Too bad grown ups don't have practice sessions. 
Anyway, I recommend you start out at 1/2", and change based on your feeling on the ice. I went to a 3/8" and my skating felt sloppy. I then tried the 5/8" and found it felt a lot better, but I had a hard time locking the blade for a b-fly slide. Went back to the 1/2" and realized it was my preference.

Keep in mind, different rinks and different outside temps will have different affects on the ice which in turn will make the blades feel different.
The ice is harder in the winter and softer in the summer due to the outside temps.

Ever since I've gone Flat Bottom V, I can't go back. I'm 180lbs and I'm more of a power skater/hitter on the ice than a guy with really great puck handling skills, I tend to never have enough grip so the Flat Bottom V works very well for me.

I couldn't get an edge last night as a goalie, or as a player during the second game.
