Celtics acquire Courtney Lee in a sign-and-trade with the Rockets. Celtics back-court looking pretty nice right now with Rondo/Bradley/Terry/Lee..

bballguy 07-19-2012 02:34 PM

Wow, Blatche clears waivers....put that guy on a team with a few veteran leaders and he could become a very valuable asset...He's only 25 years old and with a boatload of talent.

411ken 07-19-2012 04:28 PM

I agree. I'm surprised too. He was playing pretty good couple yrs back when he had playing time. Chicago shud snatch him up if they cud. They lost asik so they cud use another Big

The heat cud use his size too

Obsideon 07-19-2012 04:40 PM

The Knicks are so stupid ... retarded ownership overpays for so many over the hill players and when a GOOD deal is staring them straight in the face they walk away ... Jeremy Lin, yes the Offer-Sheet was ridiculous, $25million for 3 years, BUT... Madison Square Garden Stocks plummeted $27m in a matter of DAYS when Wall Street found out Lin was taking his talents to Texas ...

They might end up paying around $40m in taxes, but imagine if Lin plays GOOD for the whole season, not only would they have NOT lost $27m in revenue, but possibly gained even more. That's not evne factoring all the merchandise sales and promotional value!

GLOW 07-19-2012 05:41 PM

another article on NY letting lin go...

they said that the 3rd year was a lot of $ but that's ok b/c it's an asset as an expiring contract...which makes sense...i didn't know carmelo called Lin out saying his contract was "ridiculous" which apparently doesn't get done by players...

The Jeremy Lin Debate No One Wants to Have: The Q: GQ

MR_BIGGS 07-19-2012 06:33 PM

^^ Reading that article reaffirmed a lot of the things I thought about this whole Lin situation. Why in the hell did Melo call the offer ridiculous? I mean Lin is your teammate until otherwise, so why would you do that?

GLOW 07-19-2012 07:41 PM

melo being melo....

bballguy 07-19-2012 08:01 PM

I don't think Melo's statement about Lin's contract was meant to be said the way it came off to sound....I think he was calling it ridiculous because of the way it was purposely back-loaded to make it a 'poison-pill' for New York...

Obsideon 07-19-2012 11:01 PM

Dwight Howard reported said that he would re-sign if he went to the Lakers but he later contracted that comment ... wtf man grow the fuck up

Ron_Swanson 07-20-2012 12:10 AM

I can't wait till Dwight gets traded or leaves at free agency. This is getting super annoying. It's like when Melo wanted to go to New York...

411ken 07-20-2012 07:10 AM

Super annoying is an understatement. NBA is a f'ng circus.. too bad they can't get their shit together and stop this nonsense.

I love the game but wouldn't mind seeing a longggggggggggggggg lockout for this crap. I know they are rich and all but ya.. they could all play overseas! lol..

/end rant

NBA Jersey with advertisement? haha

G-spec 07-20-2012 11:13 AM

fuck you NBA, 2x2 adverts on the shoulders only ?

ya right that's where it starts faggots, gonna end up with big logos within years.... fucking fuck man im really upset about this..... the only thing that would ease my anger a little bit is if they put that small advert in place of the NBA logo which is already situated on the left shoulders as you can see in the pic above me AcuraBoy posted... at least that way I'll already know to ignore it the way I have been the NBA logo long as I can remember, lol

On apparel it's ok, but I always thought having an NBA logo on a jersey was useless anyway, it's like yea obvious as the sun is yellow that these are NBA teams... (yes I know sun is really white btw)

The Knicks are Linsane when it came to walking away from matching the Rocket's offer.
I agree with G-Spec that the big ego of a few star players in the locker room, Melo, cough, cough, may have influenced the decision to not match the Rockets' offer.

Dolan is on crack when it makes some of his decisions for the team roster.

Goodbye to Linsanity in New York, hello to more Melodrama. :rukidding:

bballguy 07-21-2012 01:28 PM

While I do agree that it was stupid of the Knicks organization, as a business, to not match the offer, I can totally understand why the players on the team would not want Lin getting such a deal...The same way, if I was a player, I wouldn't want the overpaid Joe Johnson on my team, I wouldn't want Lin on my team either, because the fact of the matter is that paying him that much money is more of a business move than a move to make the team better.

Felton is looking trim in these days, and will do just fine, if not better than Lin would, but at a much cheaper price. That said, he won't bring in nearly as much money for the Knicks organization as Lin would.

bballguy 07-21-2012 01:56 PM

For anyone that's interested, Blazers rookie starting point guard Damian Lillard is tearing it up in Summer league, 2nd in the league in scoring with 26.5. Josh Selby, probably OJ Mayo's replacement in Memphis, is also tearing it up leading the league with 29 ppg.

What I find disappointing after reading all the signing/trades is the bulls being quiet this off season. I mean. find some help for D Rose for crying out loud! do they even have a SG next season yet? and I mean a LEGIT starting 2 guard.

Kirk Hinrich.

Unless miracle happens, Bulls is a long shot from title this year. It's a pipe dreams to hope for Rose to fully recover from a torn ACL to be totally ready for next year playoffs. I'd say between Celtics, Nets, Pacers, Bulls and maybe Knicks, nobody has enough juice to fight Miami.

bballguy 07-22-2012 11:39 PM

Chicago signed Vlad-Rad - they haven't officially signed Kirk yet, though he's verbally agreed with them to a two-year, $6+ million contract. They traded Kyle Korver away to the Hawks for a trade exception and cash. They are also in advanced talks with Marco Belinelli who might agree to sign for the bi-annual exception; if he does, it would put the Bulls at the hard cap for this season. They haven't had much space to make compelling offers to 'legit' shooting guards, like OJ Mayo. They only way they could get a shot at those guys are via sign-and-trade.
