InvisibleSoul 04-08-2010 09:30 PM

If only they showed just an ounce of urgency on the extended 5 on 3s... easily another point or two for Henrik... but they just dilly dallied it away.

spoon.ek9 04-08-2010 09:33 PM

well... hopefully we will end the season on a winning note.

Commentators mentioned that he may have re-injured his foot that occurred in practice the other day.

JKam 04-08-2010 11:09 PM

wtf. all our D is getting destroyed.

Do we have any depth for our D?

Harvey Specter 04-08-2010 11:21 PM

Pretty boring game up until the 3rd period. We could have easily tied the game with those two 5 on 3's but oh well. And yes, our D got destroyed again and it's starting to worry me going into the playoffs next week.

On a side note, two big games (Rangers vs. Flyers) to watch tomorrow and on Sunday. If Rangers win both games, they're in and Flyers are out. Tomorrows game is on RDS.

I hope Luongo can discover his game soon.

Touching game for Modano last night, most likely his last game at home. Video tribute, in game minute standing ovation, tearing up on the bench, game tying goal, shootout goal & all the fans staying after the post game fan appreciation ceremonies were over to salute Modano.

Reminded me a lot of Trevor's last home game here. For as much as Trevor has meant to the Canucks, Modano has meant the same to the Stars franchise and the Dallas community. Modano turned down a trade to Washington at the trade deadline because couldn't see himself playing for another franchise.

hotjoint 04-09-2010 07:28 AM

^ Saw that on the highlights last night. Modano is a class act

SkinnyPupp 04-09-2010 07:55 AM

Yup Trevor and Mike had very similar paths in the NHL, right down to draft year IIRC (at least it is close). Modano was fortunate enough that their team didn't hire a dumb cocksucker like Mike Keenan who replaced Trevor Linden with Mark Fucking Messier... Man if you were a Canucks fan back then, you know how bad it gets.

7seven 04-09-2010 08:06 AM

almost the perfect ending for Modano, Stars last game is in Minnesota, where it all started for Modano.

how is it that crosby and ovechkin get so much attention while stamkos is like invisible in the media?

It's always crosby vs ovechkin this and that...
what about stamkos vs crosby vs ovechkin?

Because Stammer isn't an NHL elite like those you mentioned. If he can string seasons achieving 100+ points, then I guarantee he will be mentioned on the same breath as Crosby & OV.

Right now he's just a great player the likes of Kovalchuk, Gaborik, Heatley or the like; or just establishing himself as one. He's only in his 2nd year.

Correct - Linden (2nd) was chosen right after Modano (1st overall) back in 1988.

Wow what a coincidence. Hopefully the Wild have something planned for him too!

I'm sure the idiots on CDC are going crazy about Gillis' inability to address our D depth, but we've had a string of bad luck:

- No one thought that Willie Mitchell would be out this long - he might have to call it a career after this season
- Brad Lukowich was supposed to be our insurance, but he's out with shoulder surgery
- Aaron Rome, who is head-and-shoulders above Bieksa, may be out again
- Bieksa got struck by lightning twice and has been pretty bad since returning

Who do we have left? Baumer is a good guy and has played hockey a long time, but he made a couple of plays last night that simply don't work in the NHL. Alberts can hit, but his mobility is limited.

Such a cop out. It's always the same story every year. Injuries.

It's all about how a team comes together for the playoffs and how well they sustain it for the next 4 rounds. There's been countless of times in the history of hockey where a team who just limped into the playoffs made it all the way to the final.

Expresso 04-09-2010 08:56 AM

Maybe its time for some defensive style hockey like back in the day lol!
