Despite all the videos and documentation of his skill, only a margin of it can be translated to actual game situuation. That's why people see his flashes of brilliance only every now and then. It's not because he only shows up "when he wants to."

agreed. if you actually watch him play, he doesn't have that much hockey sense. people will bash his laziness and what not, which is somewhat true, but really he's doesn't have a very high hockey IQ.
