before I came to Canada, whenever anyone mentioned the word America in eastern europe - the image of Michael Jackson always popped up in our minds.

He reshaped music.

Leslie's death was more shocking because it came out of nowhere. Anita's death was surprising as well but it was something that people knew would happen eventually because of her illness.

I was sitting in the office when my co-worker told us that MJ died and I didn't believe her. :(

He might be a weirdo and all that but there is no denying that he singlehandedly changed and shaped music to what it is today. You can go anywhere in the world and ask them who Michael Jackson is and 99.9% of them would know who you're talking about.

Timpo 06-25-2009 10:51 PM

RIP MJ :(

It's easy to judge someone, point and laugh at them and call them names without really knowing them or knowing their past. If you go deep into his past you'll know he had a troubled childhood. His father abused him, called him names and constantly put him down. Obviously that would fuck any child up and combine that with fame and fortune at a young age and it was a recipe for disaster later in life. I might be naive but I never believed the charges against him; I always felt it was a money grab.

right now on much music they're having a huge marathon on mj. it's nice to look at all his old music vids and it shows how much he cared for the world. i might stay up all night and watch it. my favourite is the free willy song and human nature.

RIP

still can't believe it

Roach 06-26-2009 12:08 AM

I can honestly say I'm still in shock. For some people he was a joke. That's fine. I, however, will always remember him for...

Beat It
Rock With you
Earth Song
You are Not Alone
Bad
Jam
Man In the Mirror
Thriller
Billie Jean
Human Nature
Black or White
Smooth Criminal
Remember the Time
That girl is mine
Dangerous
Stranger in Moscow

... etc.

He didn't just bring Thriller. MJ owned the music industry for many years. He inspired people of all races, backgrounds and ages to chase their dreams. Who here hasn't tried to moonwalk? I still could never come close. I was amazed, inspired and captivated by him. That is the MJ I will remember.

Kev
