I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way... this game may have been "refined" by EA, but it is nowhere as FUN as NHL09. There is a point where realism gets in the way of actually enjoying the game, and NHL10 is the perfect example of that - clumsy controls, lagging, passes that go to places that you did not want them to go, checks that simply bounce people around when they should've been stopped/knocked down, and etc.

Sounds realistic? Probably. Fun? Not so much. :(

You just got to the time to aim your passes, took awhile to get used to.

I do miss the big hits though. :(

Meh. I played a full season of Be a Pro and when you get through that many games, you see all the bugs and stupid gameplay things that have been there for years. Don't think I'm gonna touch the game at all anymore. It just doesn't feel fun to me now.

For instance, the CPU still does lightning fast passes back and forth 20 times; cross crease passes = instagoal; stupid goals where people walk by the goalie and puck slips in the five hole; stupid AI that keeps reversing the puck behind the net even though there's a clear lane for a breakout pass; STUPID HITTING SYSTEM where your guy bounces off people when you try to check them, thus giving them a breakaway/easy entry into your zone.

NHL09 would be better minus the new passing system, and putting in back the big charge hits from 08, ahaha.

I'm not a fan of having to "charge" passes, but not having perfect passes every time does make things more realistic. I also like how you can bounce passes off the walls and the computer will automatically skate onto it.

As for checks that simply bounce off, it's because the player is too small/not a checker. You don't expect Kyle Wellwood to lay crunching hits in real life, and it won't happen in NHL10 either.

EA needs another update to fix the Be a GM mode freezing issue.

My BAP character is 6' 210lbs and 80 toughness. There's no way my guy should bounce off Martin St. Louis when he's coming down the wing and I've got him lined up.

What's his checking stat?

I love NHL 10. it's pure fun online. But ya, the checking can be more realistic. No game is perfect.

Toughness has nothing to do with checking hits. I also believe height and weight don't affect it either. Its checking and balance stats. If you take a look at Chara's and Boogaard's stats (two of the best NHL10 hitters and guys you just bounce off of) they both have excellent checking and balance. To throw some good hits your checking and balance should both be in the mid 90's. If the guy you're trying to hit has a higher balance stat than you, its likely you'll just bounce off. Also note that what the opposition player is doing can affect how hard you can hit them. If they're in the middle of a pass/shot/deke they are much easier to knock down. If they're skating up the side boards without deking it can be quite hard to knock them down and you may be better off using board play to staple them to the boards.

one-timers and ppl standing in front of the net, fucking bs. nobody knows how to shoot in this game, all they do is fucking one-time.

Yeah, its pretty lame. Whenever I'm in the defensive zone, I'm just trying to block the cross-crease passes

hotjoint 11-15-2009 03:21 PM

One timers are pretty much the only way to score now that the goalie as stopping everything.

Its fun to play against people that run the same play every single time. Much easier to defend against them. Then afterwards when you win they send you hilariously whiny instant messages.

hey guys, how do I do a roster update? I log on to EA and it says it will check and download the newest roster update. When I play online it's up to date but when I go to "play now" or "season mode" or any other mode actually my roster's aren't up to date, It's only up to date when playing online. How do I update my roster so that all modes will have the up to date rosters?

You gotta go to the roster management and load the downloaded roster
