On a side note, I played nhl 09 and this guy picked detroit and I picked the coyotes.. All game long, I just cleared the puck to piss him off and play Defence as all he tries to do is do the "easy" goals.. I ended up winning 1-0. lol

I did that against someone who tried curve shots and wrap arounds the ENTIRE game. I shut him down easily and won 5-2. He msgs me and tells me "quit spamming the pokecheck".

I was like WOW, a glitcher telling ME to not play cheap! lol

X360? Not to brag, but I was ranked top fifty on 09 :D

I'd join a RS EASHL, but I play with my buddies. Division 1 FTW!

how you guys like the demo? They've fixed most of the glitch goals but the wrap around one is still there but its not really a glitch to me because wrap around goals to occur in real life and its easily defended. They added protect the puck/speedburst for classic controls (L2) so I'm happy. Just watch, people will figure out new glitch goals

Jmac 09-03-2009 08:32 AM

Considering you can only play the same two 5 minute scenarios, it got boring fast. I think I probably played about 10 or so games of Pit vs. Det and maybe 5 prospect games.

I can't wait for Be A GM Mode ...

Gh0stRider 09-03-2009 08:38 AM

The demo is ok, nothing spectacular. Ive only played the demo once. Those periods are way too short.

411ken 09-03-2009 01:46 PM

The Demo was pretty good.. What I did to test it out a little longer is if I'm winning, I let them tie it up so it goes to OT and what not.. just to try out the game longer hehe..

But when the simulator gave the CPU a 3-0 lead, i'm not going to lie but I scored 6 goals in that 3rd period (I scored most of it whenever a player rushes into the net for a rebound or a pass then shoot.)...maybe it's the AI or just the difficulty.as I left it to whatever it was on...

I'm sure everybody will still end up getting this game and that includes me but i'm kinda more stoked to playing nba 2k10 lol..

turb0triX 09-03-2009 03:27 PM

yeah, the demo was a bit short

ienhz 09-03-2009 03:56 PM

hardcore mode is the dumbest shit i've ever seen. how is it realistic to have to charge a pass?

also, the after the whistle stuff is a waste of time that adds nothing to the gameplay. i bet every online game is going to end up with somebody starting a scrum after every single whistle.

i really wish they would remove some of the dumb animations too. you know the ones where you try to body check someone but YOUR guy ends up doing the stupid seizure animation instead. it looks so dumb when you start the after whistle scrums and it's basically a couple of guys walking/bouncing off each other with that animation.

DanHibiki 09-03-2009 05:26 PM

other that the skating, i think 2k series has better animations. a lot of the animations in nhl 10 just doesn't look right

Preemo 09-05-2009 12:12 PM

2K is horrible. But it's all opinion anyways. But then again, there's a reason why the NHL series be EA has a higher resell value than 2K stuff. You can get NHL 2K9 at EB for $5.

BLUETIGER 09-10-2009 02:37 AM

just tried the demo.. from first impressions, the gameplay feels a bit like the 2k series now (which is bad). maybe because i've been playing nhl 09.. will have to experiment further.

Franjo 09-10-2009 07:42 AM

I played over 100 online games in NHL09 and had a great time with it. (minus the glitch goals). I haven't played a 2k game since 2k6, so I think just for the hell of it I'll try out the 2k game before i pickup NHL09.

here's a whole period gameplay video, Canucks vs Sharks:

hotjoint 09-10-2009 08:37 AM

only 2k hockey game i've every played was 2k7 and it was pretty good. This 2k10 looks really odd. Maybe its because I'm so used to EA NHL games.

Dragon-88 09-10-2009 02:36 PM

Cant wait for the torrent in a couple days...

411ken 09-10-2009 05:26 PM

I watched the 2K10 link above and at first I thought it would be good as the Intro and such looked great but once the puck dropped, it went downhill for me.. I don't think I can even play a complete game with that... They should just drop the hockey 2k series... spend more time on the BBALL side of things

CaRcuS 09-11-2009 12:55 AM

with Classic, you still have all the features. Only thing no puck dump, protect puck, lift stick. Ive used classic since the nhl 97 days. Tried to switch, no point for me. I used skill stick for deakin an all everything for stick stuff.

hope turns out to be what im hoping it to

I use classic. You just can't dump the puck. Protect puck is R2 and stick lift is R1 and square (the poke check button). Yeah I use the skill stick only for deking as well. I just find that using classic controls is so much easier. Hope that helps you :D

they wont let you change lines last year with classic controls.

anyone find that when you play the demo on ps3 classic controls, the skating locks up and you can only pass and shoot when you go on the offense? it happens sometimes.

its fine when you play defense
