edit: crap my bad I thought it said 16-85mm haha

Ronin 09-01-2009 08:32 AM

Hmmm...about a grand less than a 5D.

it's okay CD. Your camera doesn't support EF-S lenses. Who is it to blame? :D

patman18 09-01-2009 10:36 AM

wonder if it'll have the same problem with the 50d with high noise at higher iso

Don't matter to me if it's crop or not. Better for zoom lenses anyway.

As far as the noise goes, it's supposed to be much much better at higher ISO than 50D.

Definately thinking of getting this over the 5D. I don't need the full frame really. And this is gonna be a good $1,000 - $1,500 less than 5D. Plus I'll probably sell my 40D to cover at least 1/3 or the cost. Sounds like a good deal to me :) Can't wait till it comes out :D

okay best buy usa changed their prices already.

moky 09-01-2009 12:50 PM

On a side note, they are also already showing on Adorama.com
$1,699 USD for the body only and $1,899 USD with the EF 28-135mm

http://www.adorama.com/ICA7D.html (body only)
http://www.adorama.com/ICA7DK.html (with 28-135 kit lens)

jlo mein 09-01-2009 04:12 PM

hmmm...flood of used 50D's for cheap on the market?

skyxx 09-01-2009 04:41 PM

So is this a replacement or what?

niforpix 09-01-2009 04:46 PM

I don't think this would be a replacement. It's in between 50D and 5D for people who wants HD video but don't need full frame and can't afford to shell out extra $1,500, like myself :p

skyxx 09-01-2009 04:51 PM

But the thing is it's only like a couple hundred more compared to the 50D.

It seems like they've gotten rid of the banding issues that plague the 5D mkII & 50D.

1exotic 09-01-2009 08:33 PM

I was reading that this is a new line, between the 50D and 5DmkII... So it's not replacing anything.

$1699 for the body for what this camera has is a good deal.

Erm, Minolta was the first company to introduce wireless flash with the 7xi body in 1991. It took Nikon 10 years to catch up, and it's still not as user friendly as the old Minolta system.

I would buy this camera if only canon would get rid of their hideous ergonomics.

TOPEC 09-02-2009 01:40 AM

hmmmm very tempting, maybe i'll get this one, or skip jump for the 5D

Millions of people world wide use Canon SLR's without complaint, maybe its not the camera...

Senna4ever 09-02-2009 09:37 AM

Of course not...it's my personal preference, but a lot of pros also don't like canon's ergonomics. They use the canon system because of the 5D mkII and some of the lenses that have no current Nikon equivalent.

roastpuff 09-02-2009 04:24 PM

Might look into this a second body for my 5D2... I like that new 19-point AF system and viewfinder LCD overlay.

uhh...not exactly a "couple" hundred dollars more than the 50D:

Henrys:
50D (body): $1299
7D (body): $2099

difference is $800!

I also have a 40D and I am also very tempted to sell it to buy the 7D...but i calculated it will still cost at least $1000 to upgrade assuming I buy this from the US. That's going to burn a deep hole in my pocket. I might hold off for now.
