And there are a lot of good people, like you, out there. Can you imagine if we stopped doing those little things?

Today I saw a couple of youngsters help an old lady pick up the groceries she dropped when her bag broke. It was an automatic reaction. There's hope.

What he meant was, in NA, it is considered bad manners to chew with mouth open.

Other things to add to that list.......

When shopping, leave cart over to the side, not right in the middle of the isle.
Clean up after yourself when at fast food restaurant, like McD's.
Pick up garbage on the side walk once in a while (as long as it is clean, of course, and garbage can is close by).
If someone does a good job, let them know.

Little things like that make other people's lives easier.

When my family goes out to dinner, we pile all the plates and stuff at the end of the table for the waiters/waitresses when we are finished. Some think it is odd, but it puts a big smile on some of their faces and why not? It's a shitty job and helping them out will make their day/night go smoother.

Yesterday I noticed as I was leaving a restaurant that some chick had stalled her car at a busy intersection and she was backing the whole fucking thing up badly lol. She was just on her phone in the car so a friend and I helped push her car over to a nearby parking lot. She wasn't really overly thankful, it was more like we were somehow expected to do it haha wtf.

rs horn dogs: I didnt ask for hte digits cuz she was ugly.

I always do this, even when there is just two of us out for dinner.

This is a good thread.

these are basic manners, not random acts of kindness.

A lot of the time people may think "random acts of kindness" may be troublesome and they don't give a shit. However, in reality the feeling that you've helped out a person in need is just great. I can't remember any major random acts of kindness I did, but I've definitely helped out those in need. I remembered a car getting stuck in the snow in front of my g/f's house, and I helped him push his car out. Also, I remembered helping out this c-lai @ T&T (or Osaka I forgot) when she dropped her bag of fruit and the fruits rolled out all over the place lol. Other c-lais didn't give a shit and kept shopping and I was like the only one picking it up for her. It really felt good afterwards even though all she said was a simple "thank you" in Chinglish.

I remember the time when Best Buy on Cambie opened the first day.
Huge line up. People were wanting this dlink wireless router. It was me and my ex each holding one. Then I overheard a convo between some couple and an employee. He drove all the way from Port Coquitlam just for the router. I obviously didn't need it, so me and my ex decided to give our extra to the couple.

It's not something spectacular or any extraordinary kindness, but a small deed lightened up my day. They even said thank you. The lineup was ridiculous and I was at least the first 30-40 people.

There's a blood clinic on Oak Strret in Vancouver.

4750 Oak St
Vancouver, BC V6H 2N9, Canada
(888) 236-6283

It's OK to just show up during regular hours, but making an appointment really makes everything go smoothly.

As long as you haven't done anything weird like make out with monkeys or have been in contact with exotic animals, you're fine. Oh, STD's and hookers, and all that stuff - not cool.

Also, make sure you drink lots of water before going and eat well. The water makes your veins nice and big.

To his defence, you can stretch it by saying that display of good maners does show others that the person cares about others. A far stretch maybe, but when I know I've fucked up, I say I'm sorry and mean it. I'll try to make it up to them if I can.

Nowadays, people have little to no manners. Butting into line, taking more than their share, putting others down, etc. I try my best not to inconvenience others. People who don't think of others around them are selfish in my books.

Anyway, having good manners does make a difference, in a way.

So, go wave people through in traffic, thank people whenever you can and, show good manners, I guess. Pehaps I should have titled the thread, "Be Nice."

On my second last time, I nearly passed out. I had to sit down for quite some time. Doesn't help when you're a diabetic.

The last time, I made sure I ate and all was fine. One thing that I noticed with the clinic is they don't have a single good looking woman on staff. It would make things a lot nicer if a hot chick was there bending over you with a low cut............... damn. Gotta get my mind out of the gutter.

I think you can give blood every 56 days or something like that. It takes an average person about that long to replenish the blood taken.

Honestly, it doesn't affect you that much. Perhaps an hour or so you may feel a little weak. Plan to be gone for one hour. That's about how long the process takes. Most of which is due to the paper work and interview.

That's hilarious. You should have just dropped the stuff or better yet, make her drop the rest. No, that's just wrong.

Don't let that stop you from being nice to others. Old woman is messed up.

yesterday during lunch, i went down from the mountain for lunch with my friend, we were headed for IHOP, and this homeless man comes up to me and ask if i could buy him lunch. He then went along saying how if i gave him 12 bux he can go downtown and have a place to stay and clean up etc, but it felt like he wouldve bought drugs with the money. i was feeling generous so i bought him and his buddy soup and meatloaf from safeway, dude was so happy, and grateful, felt like it was worth it. Btw his friend was sitting down the entire time , didnt say or do a thing.

I live in a low-rise with the typical slow-ass elevator. I live on the 4th floor, so when I come home from work, I ride the elevator to my floor, and I'll send it down the garage when i exit. This way, the next person coming up from the garage won't have to wait 5 hours for the elevator to arrive.

I've been on the receiving end, and it's nice to get to the elevator just as it arrives, and it opens up empty.
