An older guy was trying to get into the front cab of a U-Haul as I drove by
He was short, had the window down 1" and was using some metal piece to try and pop the lock, but could not see what he was doing

I reverse, ask him what's going on, and sure enough, he says he locked the keys inside for the second time

Gave him my 6ft ladder, he was in after 2 minutes

I either helped someone steal a U-Haul, or made his life a little easier

It happened in front of the Bellingham Trader Joe's. This couple were quarrelling about something. As they approached me, I heard a lot of, "Why don't you hug me? I want you to hug me." It was the guy who was saying this. The girl refused and kept saying, I've hugged you a million times. After a lot of (almost) yelling, I interrupted the girl and said, "It all starts with a hug." As soon as the guy heard this, he fixated on those six words. He kept saying it to her. As I was leaving the parking lot, I look in my rear view mirror and see the two embraced in each other's arms.....................hugging each other. It put a smile on my face.

Actually, what might have helped was the story I told them about my wife. How we used to fight and argue all the time. I told them, "I have so much love left in me to give right now, but the one person I want to give it all to, is no longer here. Silence ensued and that's when I started to head over to the car.

I went to the Laundromat on Dominion Street this afternoon. While parking my car, I spot some woman crawling on top of a truck canopy. I park the car and go see what's going on. She sees me and starts talking what might have been english. She was like a kid with ADHD. All excited with no focus. She had locked the keys in her older Mazda truck. She brings out this mini scissor and tries to jam it into the door lock. I assess the situation and nothing can be done. I told her something long is needed to unlock the door. I spent 20 minutes trying to help her. Then, some random guy shows up (I think she said it was her neighbour), so I left, because even though he was as clueless as she was, I couldn't do any more to help her. I suggested she call a tow truck or BCAA, but it looked like she would rather break a lock or smash a window than to do that. I went into the casino. Put in twenty bucks and placed a 50 cent bet. For the love of Catwoman's tights, I win like 375 bucks on the first try. If I had bet the max $5.00 amount, I would have won 10 grand. So, I play a little longer and cash out. When I get back to my car, I see the woman again. Truck is still there, but her door has been unlocked. Some dude happened to have a long ass metal wire looking thing with him. I'm about to leave when she keeps barking about need car start, or something like that. She has a dead battery. She showed me the shortest set of jumper cables I have ever seen. Not only that, she was parked up against the wall hood first, No adjacent open spots anywhere. I went back to the car and got out the trusty NOCO GB70 and started up her truck. Good deed for the day. She was so flustered, she really didn't thank me. Anyway, usually when I help someone, something bad happens (no good deed goes unpunished, so to speak). This time, something good happened before I actually helped someone. Weird. I'll post a screenshot of the epic win, because on RS, it's pics or it didn't happen, gulolol.

Walking the pup the other day, we're on the sidewalk and we're halfway down the block from the main intersection. Man on an electric wheelchair passes us on the road in the curb lane, gave him a little wave as he was on the sidewalk behind us and it seemed he detoured to give the dog extra space.

As he's rolling up the transition from road to sidewalk, his wheelchair is riding hard on the wheelie bar on the back of his chair and I be like damn that looks sketchy. Didn't really think much more. He's waiting for the light to change to cross the street. Light changes and as he's rolling down the transition/ramp from sidewalk to road, his chair suddenly tips forward and jams onto the only thing keeping him up which were his feet that are stepped onto a foot holder. Without a second thought I immediately sprint over and push him back onto all 4 wheels. Big dude so took a few seconds, but fortunately he's ok. Dog thought we were playing lol

Every time I see an electric scooter with no orange flag, I let the person know it's important to have one. It might save them one day. I tell them they can get one at Canadian Tire. Some say thank you, while others are like, "Leave me alone."

This is pretty much the opposite of a random act of kindness, but speaking of electric scooters...

When I was 16 or something I was driving down 10th Ave about to turn right onto McBride, heading towards the Patullo. To the right side of that curve, is a small hill that leads down into a residential area.

I'm approaching the turn when I notice an electric scooter, and as I'm turning I see in my mirror that the scooter essentially falls over and rolls down the hill.

I can't remember at all what my reasoning was at the time, other than I was probably a bit more of an asshole when I was 16, but I didn't stop to help. I felt so guilty the whole night though I went there on my way home, but of course nobody was there by then.

It's a bit of a negative core memory for me, and I still am reminded of how shitty I was every time I take that curve.

So, help whenever you can - otherwise you may literally regret it for the rest of your life, like me haha.

Don't sweat it. Everybody was 16 at one time. I was an asshole, for sure.

I was at the Willingdon Costco on Wednesday. I was with my youngest son. We decided to get some deli food. First time I actually sat down to eat. My son ordered the food while I looked for an empty table to sit at. I took my time and didn't wolf down the hot dog. He wasn't working today and I had nothing to do. While I was watching people rushing to do their shopping, I noticed this worker. Young fellow. He was very quick on his feet and was doing all kinds of extra work. He wasn't supervised or anything and he greeted people and was very personable. I was so impressed, I went up to the counter and gave him the thumbs up. He was really happy to hear me say, "Keep up the good work!" He replied with, "It's a team effort, sir." I then proceeded to the feedback station. I filled out one of those feedback slips and gave a raving review on that young worker. I didn't see a name tag, but I wrote down the date and time. Anyway, I got a reply from Costco asking what location this was at. It sounded like a positive feedback was something to celebrate. Anyway, I hope the guy gets at least a pat on the back. Good to see self motivated young workers. Not all that common anymore.

Someone did a good job of parenting......................

Lol jk…. It’s great that you are giving actual feedback because they do take them seriously, especially the positive ones. At least when I worked in retail, my managers did.

He did have a name tag, but the worker was a he.......... if it were a she, I'd totally try to read the tag, gulolol.

Back on track. I've seen people treat the workers like shit. I've witnessed so much abuse. Those poor guys who get the roasted chicken ready. Getting yelled at to hurry up. The karens don't get it that the tempurature has to be right. Anyway, credit where credit is due.
