no one told the asian lady today at aberdeen. if it wasnt bad enough that she sucked at driving in the parkade, she was also on the phone and almost smashed into on coming stopped traffic and the wall. that is the reason why i stayed 50ft away from that parkade intersection until i saw a clearing to get the fuck out!
then as im trying to get my ass home, some older asian guy in a black ford fusion has no concept of coasting. whats coasting? coasting is when you are decelerating or accelerating and just keeping pace. at least all his brake lights worked, got to see them no less than 20 times in the on/off ramp to knight street bridge!
get a bt device, or if u have a cd deck that has the option, get the bt hands free kit for it. I love pioneer for that one thing! absolutely love it when driving!
if you must check a text message, wait til u hit a traffic light.

Another road driving regulation, blah. I don't care, I turn up my music loud enough to not even hear my phone ring.

Bububut how on earth would he be able to stay 2cm away from the guy in front? The time-space continuum might be destroyed if someone wanted to merge in front of him.
The braking fail that always gets me to shake my head, is when you see solid brake lights from someone accelerating ....... UPHILL.

I've had a bluetooth headset for awhile now and use it daily. I hate talking on my phone when im driving so its awesome. For those of you who plan on not following this law, good luck |

I drove today eating a 12" subway sandwitch. probably 4x harder then using a cell phone...
most laws are so dumb. if someone is driving eractly while using a cell phone then there are other tickets already usable.

I'm surprised the BC Liberals have lasted this long. They established a training wage where newbies get paid less than a Nova Scotian, then the harmonized tax plan and now more minute laws. O and also, they keep increasing the salaries of the provincial legislation.

It may have been mentioned previously ,here or in the news and I missed it,but I was surprised that "N" "L" drivers can't talk even using a handsfree device. That is gonna be some PIA to enforce ,especially since GPS devices can double as BT device with the phone and as some have mentioned there cars come with BT built in.

is it illegal to drive around holding the cell phone? or only illegal to use it?
I should drive around with an old non subscribed phone held againest my head and see what happens. if a cop gave you a ticket he'd get his ass kicked in court.

I got pulled over the other night for doing 65 in richmond at 2AM, and he was pretending to be nice and only gave me a warning. Lmao. How can they enforce this anyways...i can see so many holes in this. IE i'm gonna talk on my phone, when i get pulled over i'll take out a piece of cloth the color of my phone and say i was wiping my face.

The main purpose was never to fine everyone they could but to make people aware of the dangers and consequences of using a cellphone while driving. Crashes are going to be down significantly with people being paranoid and buying hands free devices. Quite frankly, if you are having text conversations while driving you're a moron and deserve to crash, just don't take anyone with you.

also, did anybody see this? A driver must not send or receive text messages or electronic email
on any type of electronic device.
must not send, makes sense
or receive? first of all, how are they supposed to enforce that?
and say you're already pulled over and your phone goes off with a text msg. you can get ticketed for that?
(if you have no idea what i'm talking about, refer to -> http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/osmv/publi...iving-info.pdf
according to the link above, there's a lot of ways for N drivers to get around the "No GPS/Ipod" thing. just change the song out of view (on your shifter) or something

By receive they mean checking your messages, not your phone simply receiving a message.

In case some of you did not know.............
I finally decided to use the built-in BT feature on the Alpine unit (W505). Pretty good interface. Sound comes through the stereo speakers and an external mic. Music turns off when call comes through and the info shows up on the 7 inch touch screen. All features of the phone are at your finger tips.
The only way to go for me, as I wear glasses. Those on-ear BT devices are a pain in the ass (not only does it not fit well with glasses, but you have to charge the ear piece). I didn't know I had this built-in feature on the head unit until the new law forced me to look for alternatives. All I have to do is have the cell phone somewhere in the car. I have it in my pocket and it pairs automatically.
So, if you have an aftermarket stereo, check to see if BT is a possibility.
Again, nothing new, but if it helps somebody.............
BTW, the cops are giving the public a grace period to get used to the new law. Probably using the time to figure out how effective enforcing it is going to be.
