I've been using a Bluetooth headset for the past few months in preperation of this law. I'm really glad that this came into effect and it just wont be a ticket but points on your drivers license as well . They need to send a message out there that this is serious because there alot of people out there that don't pay enough attention when they're driving

I am setting up my wife's phone today. Mostly because she sucks at driving, but partially because I want her to not crash the car anymore!

I've been using my headset for a while, and yeah, it confuses a lot of people around you when it looks like you're talking to yourself and shopping or just walking around a mall.

If you have a passenger, and they're the one who's playing with the mp3 player, etc. it should be fairly obvious. Generally, when someone's fiddling with texting or songs or watching movies, etc. etc. their driving becomes a little more erratic, cautious, and overall "stupid." At that point it becomes obvious to the officer, and isn't just a matter of seeing you with the actual device.

Why are people allowed to have pets that sit on the drivers lap? I've seen that a lot, wouldn't that be more of a distraction since the pet can be unpredictable?

I've been using my car's bt so it's no biggy

But for some people its a big change
And I got to admit the pets while driving thing has to stop, they are un predictable and if there was an accident the airbag would push the dog right to the owner's face....

Are you allowed to pull over to the side of the road or highway shoulder to answer a call? Or is that considered as breaking the law since you are in the car and it is still running.

The answer is Yes you can do that. You just can't drive ei; foot on the accelarator etc etc). Put it in to park when you pull over hazards on hand brake etc etc, but you have voice mail right? Why not use that?

Just set up my cars BT and it works fairly well so far. Only annoying thing is you can't have a private conversation if somebody is in the car since the talking comes through the speakers. Oh wells it will do for now.
