I've volunteered at the Food Bank (Vancouver) before. No offense, but most of the food isn't exactly 5-star. 1/4 of the food they give out is Mac + Cheese. Not exactly the stuff Hongers would load up on regularly. Hell, I'd get sick of it if I had to eat this stuff day in and day out. I don't think ANY c-lai out there would voluntarily eat non-FOB food daily.

i've helped out at foodbanks too, you can tell who needs help and who doesn't.

But you can't refuse.

I guess people really don't feel shame it's more of a moral thing here. Even if you expose them, it wouldn't bring about any legal routes to take to stop these actions

And I mean there are cheap Chinese people for sure, but hey what about the people leeching off the welfare system? should we disclose their races too? I think people leeching the welfare system is costing us much much more than any canned food in the food bank.

For those who miss the pics Next time do a close up of their liscense plate and thier face as well. We can use the power RS/FACEBOOK to find who they are and eembrass thier kids/grandkids.

The point I meant to bring up was that when people donate to the food bank we're expecting them to be handing out to the HOMELESS and the POOR. Not people that are just as average as everyone else. Throughout the year there's pleas for MORE donations because the homeless/poor get forgotten outside of Holidays. But if throughout the year they're just handing out to normal people then it doesn't make much sense does it? Fuck I don't think I make enough money to support myself, should I waltz on over? I don't mind saving $20-30 in groceries every week.

I'd say 60+% of the people in line look like normal middle class citizens. Maybe 40% or less look "needy". By needy I mean coming in with shopping carts or bicycles and looking like they haven't shaved or showered for weeks. Some look like "trailer trash" types of people, but MOST are middle class Asian/SE Asian/Persian.

Anyways as I've said, I'm not going way out of my way to prove myself to the non believers. It's not my battle, just pisses me off, got more than enough to do in my own life then to concern myself with these types of people.

Maybe some of them are unemployed or out of employment insurance? I am sure the food bank have some kind of check to ensure foods go out to the one in need.

Not really. They just hand them out to anyone that line up. You have to remember the people that work is volunteer which to be honest they don't give shit about it. Some might be from high school just doing it to ger work experience........

That's why I don't donate anymore. Most of the time the money I donate will end up being 80% of it going to administor fees or as the OP said food/clothes... being given to people who don't need it.

Revscene used to have meets to collect food donations. We also had cruises where we'd stop by each sponsor to pick up donations and finally end up at the food bank to drop it off.

This picture was taken in 2002 back when:
- RS was small
- meets/cruises were friendly and frequent
- there were 3 sections: Import chat, VLS chat, and Buy&Sell
- donations were plentiful and supported by members, admin, and sponsors

Actually most Chinese migrants buy their house, cars outright in cash.

I've worked with many luxury car dealerships (Benz, BMW, Audi, Lexus etc) and you will be shocked at who buys big ticket items cash and who Lease/finance them.
