Why are pedal straps Sooo expensive?

chris walter 09-09-2011 09:22 AM

They are pretty solid straps. The guy at the store showed me a few kinds including those little leather ones. They had $30 straps but I wanted something that would last a long time. I also think he store i bought them from may be a little higher priced because it is a specialty shop. You also need to have bmx or bmx "style"
Pedals for them to work. Probably the best thing I have bought for my bike so far. Climbing and decending hills and stopping is so much easier.

Time to find a new frame?

It is lifetime warranty, but i stupidly threw out the 8 year old receipt, not expecting this.

Devinci was a hassle to deal with, but they gave me a great price on the new bike.

you were supposed to bring in your whole bike to get the deal on the new ollie, not just the frame. Which explains why devinci was surprised rather..

Now all i got is a bunch of parts :(

RIP Devinci Banzai 2003-2011 (Aug.11)

devinci did more than standing by their warranty. They went beyond. i believe from 02 or 03 it was still only 2 year warranty on frames and you were missing a receipt, if you had your receipt you probably would've got a better deal, or who knows, they might have given you something at free of charge. typically if you DON'T have a receipt, manufacturers won't even sell you a bike at cost

not a life time, you can't look at current devinci warranty. they didn't have life time warranty until couple years ago

Really? Because i called up devinci before they shipped it, and asked if i needed to give them anything before they would let me purchase the bike, and the rep told me that i needed to give them the frame.

Fair enough, im not too sure about these things. But Devinci basically told me they werent gonna do anything about that when i first called them. It was the 2nd time around when they said they had some 2009's left in stock and could give me a price on one.

Thing is, that somebody i know had the exact same scenario, they called up devinci, got it to a shop, and got a 2010 frame for no cost. He also had no reciept, things turned out much better for him. Thats why i was also expecting a new frame, turns out he had some good luck or something.

Splmash 09-25-2011 09:59 AM

I sold my only remaining road bike, a Bianchi, last year. I bought it in Seattle and had it for a good 3-4 years.

Now I'm looking for a fairly cheap, but reliable road bike for close commutes. Anyone able to recommend a shop? or a Craigslist page?

yep, you were supposed to send your whole bike. I suppose whoever talked to you from devinci fucked up or there was miscommunication, in the end it turned out better for you, considering you got to keep the all the old parts. Aside from cracking the seat tube on your new bike already after a week of having it. No warranty on that though.

mekaw 09-25-2011 10:18 AM

I've owned quite a few.

Thats okay, the seat tube is still intact, no crack. Took it to MT.Fromme yesterday and still rides as new.

if you take the post out, there's minimum insertion line marked, if not, make sure seat is at least 3 inches in

LP700-4 09-26-2011 05:55 PM

Checked again and theres no indication at all. Weird cause on my 2 other bikes its engraved right into the seat post. I generally keep my post at least halfway in now.

That's not too bad looks like just a new derailleur hangar and it's good to go..... Unless I'm missing something here lol..

On my commuter I've broken like 3 hangars already, don't know how it happens but 15 bucks and a bit of tuning and it's on to riding again,.

It's just a bitch to have happen to you. A couple of spokes are bent as well. He will need to replace those, and true the wheel.
