The only shop I know if out your way is Westwood Cycles.

But as mentioned before, a few guys here (myself included) have had our bikes fitted at Pacific Multisport in Vancouver by John. 604CEFIRO bought his bike at La Bicicletta (baller!) and got his fitting done there.

Strada Cycles, Speed Theory, Mighty Riders, West Point Cycles, The Bike Gallery, Obsession Bikes etc. all do fittings. There are a few custom/boutique fitting studious out there but I don't know the names off the top of my head.

My personal suggestion is to get fitted as soon as you can, especially at the beginning of the season. I say this from personal experience!

Edit: Looks like SRAM learned from a big mistake the made last year for their RED front derailleur. This year they went with an "aluminum outer cage, Tool Steel Inner Cage, Composite Tail." Last year's was titanium, making it too soft and too many problems were encountered.

There's also Secret Cycles, now in Pomo Secret Cycles | The Secret is in the Service!

I've heard some bad service related stories with Westwood, a lot of it revolving around pushy sales and the 14 year old kids they hire. I've bought from them before but I know exactly what I want. I'm sure there are some great stories from Westcood as well.

thanks

its kinda my feeling as well, from going to caps a few times, seems they arent as experienced as others, and more sales orientated, but im sure they know their stuff, especially more than me, not taking anything away from them but i rather spend my money on something more reliable in terms of fitting and experience/input.

It isn't too hard to give yourself a fitting but then, it really is easier to get someone else to do it.

I only like paying people for stuff I can't fix myself first (or if I fubar it)

At this point its not so much about the price, but the fact that they're totally ignoring me. That's what pisses me off the most

How does this Team Assist program work?

Is it possible for RS to register as a "team?"

You can register your team as Hot Baby and the league as RS if you wanted.

LOL WTF!?

And what does the Team Assist program help with? Does it provide some sort of discount on gear/equipment year round? (Sorry, I'm not at home and using a stupid iPad right now.)

I would make the trip to see John at PMS. Well worth the time and money. I've yet to follow up since my fitting, everything seems to be working just fine.

Westwood cycles staff are very pushy, when it comes to big purchases. I was in and out a couple times looking at bikes/trainers. One of the staff members was supposed to look into some disk-road rims for me and I've yet to hear back...

You register your "team" online @ https://team.sportchek.ca/pages/form.jsp

HOW IT WORKS
  • Each team receives 20 member cards; keep your card with you everytime you shop at Sport Chek.
  • Every card comes with 4 coupons, saving you more when you shop individually.
  • After 4 months, your team will be eligible to obtain a Sport Chek gift card for 5% of the total purchases made by your team members through Team Assist.
  • The more you shop, the more you save!
Every card comes with the following offers, saving you even more when you shop individually:
  • Save $10 on minimum $50 purchase
  • Take 20% off our ticket price on any single item
  • Two free skate sharpenings

Technically, there's nothing stopping you from using all the other 20% off coupons for yourself. The more you spend, the more you get back as a rebated gift card. It's pretty much their version of a cashback program.

Just ordered some LG bibs from artscyclery, never ordered from them before so we'll see how the 2-4 day shipping works out.

We should apply for the Sportchek Team Assist as a group and just mail a few coupons to those interested. I'm going to sign my x-country running team up, otherwise I would get the ball rolling. If someone is willing to sign up, I'll mail some self-addressed and stamped envelopes to you asap

I ordered from them before however had the jersey shipped to Blaine. If I recall correctly, they shipped using UPS. I don't recall if they ship using USPS or not for orders direct to Canada.

I'm in Penticton so I had them shipped to Oroville (free US shipping over $50). I'm hoping I can pick them up this weekend and give them a try.

Bike Ride Profile | New Tires near Burnaby | Times and Records | Strava

Took a quick ride today before going to the gym.

The tires are very forgiving and grippy, even in the wet as it started to shower as I was riding home, there wasn't a single time I felt that the front or rear would slide out. Due to the siping on the side of the GP4000s, they are SUPER grippy dry/wet however you can also HEAR them squirm (which probably leads to loss of power). You can also hear them squirm if you are standing and pushing your bike side to side on a sprint/up hill.

My average km/h has gone up from around 22km/h to 25km/h (mostly flat/slight hils/slight descent).

I think I would agree with bcrdukes that they are GREAT all round tires for fair weather riders/city/training because of their grip, comfortable ride, and all round performance. However, I think next time I may try out some Michelin Pro's just cuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
