Sorry to derail the thread because I know people hate when these questions are dropped in threads such as this... But, does anyone have an old road bike they want to part ways with? Ideally something very close to or equal to free, don't care if it's in shambles so long as its repairable. I just moved downtown and need a hipster bike.

PM me.

My bike takes full length fenders, and they stay on all winter. Once you use them there's no going back. Not sure how people ride in the winter w/o fenders. It's literally the difference between shit flying in your face for hours on end, vs actually having an enjoyable ride. I personally see nothing wrong with how they look either. They also keep your bike way cleaner. My headset and drivetrain thank me for keeping them out of the gunk.

If it wasn't adding so much weight or slowing me down I'd be more inclined to keep them on for longer. I see it as a winter training tool.

Well, I'm biting the bullet and getting some strap on fenders. My bike looks like a mess after getting it into work. It'll be better than nothing even though they aren't full fenders. I got the speedez strap in fenders from planet bike off craigslist, brand new for $20. They'll do.

In the market for a touring/commuter road bike:

-Condition: hopefully maintained pretty well (as long as its rust free)
-Size: 48-50cm
-Components: not a deal breaker (Mixed parts is fine)

As a touring bike, must be able to run fenders and bigger tires.
Will be used as a during bad weather/winter rides.

PM me your price. Hopefully we can work something out.

Worst decision ever. Never again will I get universal ones that fit on with a strap. Shit rubs, can't roll fenders, can't change camber. Worst part? they don't fit on flush to the frame since specialized likes to do stupid curvy curves on their bikes. I hate fenders on road bikes.

Just wondering if I can get people's thoughts:

After upgrading my groupset to 105s (thanks Mike!) I feel the urge to upgrade my crankset as well. I'm currently running a FSA Omega BB30 50/34 172.5 that came with the bike (2013 Caad 8).

I'm trying to keep costs reasonable without sacrificing function and of course, style so I'm considering purchasing a:

A) newer 105 crankset meant for 11spd (wiggle.com | Shimano 105 5800 Chainset | Road Chainsets) or

B) the ultegra 6750 crankset meant for 10 spd (wiggle.com | Shimano Ultegra 6750 Hollowtech II Compact Chainset | Road Chainsets) for an additional $80

Alternatively I can go with option C (http://www.wiggle.com/shimano-ultegr...uble-chainset/) which is the ultegra 6800 and it has the newer 4 prong arm and has the flexibility of upgrading chain rings between compact and standard. Cost difference between 6750 and the 6800 is less than $20.

I would like to keep the same set up (50/34, 172.5) and have heard that it's possible to run an 11spd crankset with a 10spd chain and cassette, or should I go with the 'appropriate' 10 spd crankset? Thoughts? Also, would the BB30 adapter be the same for all 3 options?

Thanks

After putting fenders on a lot of bikes I can tell you fender installation is almost like an art. It usually takes a lot of time to get it to work and look good. That being said, cheap strap on fenders don't work well in my experience. And there's no blanket solution for fenders. All frames are different and require some creativity. Have a look at some SKS race blades or crud mudracers, or w/e if you want some road bike specific fenders. I wouldn't give up so easily.

btw fenders on my curvy spesh frame, one benefit of disc frames:

I'd go with the 5800 chainset. btw, ribble is generally much cheaper than wiggle for shimano parts.

You should get a saddle bag with a quick release type mech for the saddle rails. Makes it much more convenient when you want to take it off.

Something like this for example Sci'con Hipo 550 RL 2.1 Seat Bag - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available

+1 for the quick release

I have a bag that is a velcro strap to my seat bar and it's a pain in the ass having to remove/re-strap every time I make a stop

I have a couple of these Scicon ones leftover, new never installed. Has the quick release. Very similar to this:
Sci'con Soft 350 Roller 2.1 Seat Bag - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available

Let's say $10 if you want it.

I've had bad experiences with scicon quick release bags, the mount broke and rendered the $30-40 bag useless.

Consider a tool bottle if you do not prefer the "dangling nutbag" look. A lot of people buy size large saddle bags and it looks like donkey nuts swaying back and forth. Yes, it takes up a spot for a 2nd water bottle, but you can afford to make a water / gaterade stop during a ride.

@604CEFIRO - I just got a message from the alibaba seller saying they're offering 5 lenses instead of 3 now for the same price. looks like you get the blue and clear one too now.

Since there has been a bunch of sunglass discussion here, maybe someone would be interested in my oakley radarlocks, matte black with oo red iridium polorized, comes with an extra vented black iridium lens which has never left the case, EXCELLENT condition, selling because I'm looking to pick up a pair of jawbreakers, asking $225 Also have a pair of custom flaks in the same colorway (matte black/oo red iridium polarized,) asking $125
