Racial Slurs
 

So I was involved in a bit of road rage about 30 mins ago. A lady cut me off so I honked as I didn't feel it was safe, nor was there a need to cut me off as the space I allowed was for myself to brake safely.

Anywho, she proceeded to give me the finger, and as I passed her she shouted a racial slur, the typical uneducated "you fucking chink". As we drove side by side in near bumper to bumper traffic, she continued.

I drove on by, returning the finger but didn't retaliate with any racial slurs of my own. She hassled me for a good two blocks in traffic.

What would you have done differently in this situation? Would you have rolled the windows and ignored her and her passenger's antics? Would you have returned fire with equally if no more offensive slurs?

My reaction, to be honest, I was quite offended and enraged. I know I shouldn't let such uneducated people bother me because I know better, but it got me really pissed off.

What do you guys do in these situations? Regardless of your ethnicity, be it East-Indian, Caucasian, African-Canadian, and / or Asian. Help me and possibly others out if we do unfortunately encounter such things in the future.

I used to get this stuff a lot in elementary school, I've been living in Burnaby since I was 3.. I'm now 22, so I sort of consider myself a part of this society as much as the person next to me. I wasn't bothered about it back then, but for some reason now it bugs me.

I generally tell myself that those remarks were from an uneducated person who will not get far in life. Lately, that just doesn't seem enough..

And yeah, kids can be very offensive. Kids don't bother me as much but grown adults do.

just ignore it...dont go down to her level...

Box her in & make her late for work. Her boss will take care of the rest.

If you're at a stop light or trapped in traffic get out of your car and walk towards her. Works for me 100% of the time.

Go buy a camera flash that can be triggered without a camera. They are quite powerful and can act like a momentary flashbang.

As for approaching her, I don't think that's a good idea. She was pretty big, and I'm quite a small guy that doesn't scream "intimidation".

Most of people would just shrug it off. Seriously, this is why many of White people look down at Asians. I think at times, you have to do something to teach them a lesson.

Usually I let things slide, but for something like RACIAL SLUR, that is not to be tolerated.

People talk about not going down to her level, I agree with that to certain extend.

I however think that "going down" to another's level is justified every once a while. When you run into an moron, staying cool doesn't cut it. You gotta talk in a language that she understands. Especially when she assults your race, this is when you should stand up and fight. Shrug it off may be seen as weak and this person would be even more reckless when she runs into a Chinese next time.

Tell her to fuck off and move back to europe if she doesnt like it.

doing nothing about it just assures them that they're able to get away with what they do with little to no consequences. people like this need to be taught a lesson the hard way.

But I agree with above posts.. sometimes it is needed to sink down to their level to show how much of an idiot they can be. Though, just try and keep thinking that they'll get what they deserve if they continue to drive like that. Karmas a bitch. That way you can avoid the trouble and potential dangers of violence.

just give her a big smile,, it will piss her off more and u can just enjoy her losing it....simple,,
