Download Juice Defender as JKam described above.

Oh yeah, when 2.1 comes out, it's gonna be awesome

It'll be better but not awesome. Cause 2.2 definitely makes a huge difference.

Did anyone else notice a boost in battery life with the new[er] R2BA020 firmware? I used to have my phone die on me not long after I got home each day, but even with pretty decent 3G usage I'm now ending the day at 65-70%. Quite the improvement.

Phone seems a bit more sluggish though. Could be that they've played with scaling back the CPU? Or it's my imagination.

Android 2.1 update to come out before the end of this September. http://www.cnet.com/8301-19736_1-20015096-251.html

JKam 09-01-2010 11:05 PM

too bad 2.2 has been out for a few months

RabidRat 09-01-2010 11:57 PM

yeah waiting on the dev community to finish hacking the bootloader so we can throw 2.2 on there. i don't want freaking mediascape and timescape anyway.

Tim Budong 09-02-2010 01:55 AM

if infact the x10 did get 2.2 thru a root..it still doesnt match up to the quality of say a HTC desire/nexus one or even the samsung galaxy

JKam 09-02-2010 09:57 AM

the bootloader got cracked?

Should be the same as all android phones. Go into the settings and then goto wireless & networks. Scroll down to Mobile networks and then Access point names.

the guys down at XDA are almost done with the bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...726813&page=29

looks like in about a week we'll finally have custom ROMs on this thing. can't wait to throw 1.6 out the window and slap 2.2 on there =)

Only problem with a hacked on 2.2 is that some things tend not to work right or stability issues. But who knows :)

JKam 09-11-2010 10:46 PM

thank god.

Update has been delayed to the end of October:
Quote:

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro owners who have been waiting for Android 2.1 to be rolled out to their handsets will be disappointed to know that the company has delayed the update.

The X10 was slated to get the update in Q3 2010, but Sony Ericsson has now suggested on its forums that it will be the end of October before Éclair arrives on the handset.

"The revised plan is to start the roll-out from end of October and onwards," explained Sony Ericsson's Rikard Skogberg.

Not happy

"We are of course not happy about the change of launch timing but we have had to spend some additional time on the software to really make sure we roll-out with the right quality and user experience," he continued.

"When it comes to what to expect from the updated software all three X10 models will be updated to Android 2.1 and the Xperia X10 will also get HD video recording with continuous autofocus among many other things."

This is certainly far from ideal for X10 owners, who will no doubt be looking at the handsets that are already getting 2.2 updates and questioning why they are so far behind.

What cases/covers are you guys using? I'm using the cheap plastic one that they sell at rogers for $20.

Tim Budong 11-01-2010 10:37 AM

JKam 11-01-2010 02:16 PM

if it doesn't improve the lag for keyboards I'm throwing it away.

nns 11-01-2010 05:37 PM

You can manually apply the update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...43#post8944043

I'm about to do it.

If you're worried about bricking your phone, I would hold off following the above link. Some people, myself included, are having problems right now. Better to wait.
