Double Down now KFC Canada's most successful menu item ever

Just tried the double down @ Lougheed Mall.

Was dissapointed with the taste and price (10.70 w/ taxes for the combo; i got raped LOL). Even though it was fresh, it was really hot, kept burning me lol. I was really dissapointed by the small bacon pieces and the fact they used kraft cheese:

But i did get full by the 10th bite [took me around 15].

tried it today, was dissapointed. Had to wait an extra 10 minutes for them to make a fresh one because someone had just ordered the last one (I guess it's different chikinz they use) but at least the girl gave me tons of fries as a bonus.

I couldn't finish it, too gross. the sauce + cheese mix was yuck city and the buns weren't as good as normal KFC chikinz. only had one peice of bacon, which seemed strange, and it was put together poorly. over all 3/10, would not deal with again.

I had the combo but swapped out the soda for a small gravy. It was quite tasty but definitely not worth the $10 price tag. The gravy helps with the saltiness.

A noble decision. I really concidered adding a gravy, but expected a heart attack even without it.

after reading the last 5 pages, I do agree that it was salty and dry too, just didn't pick up on it until now. Was there supposed to be 2 peices of bacon? or are they really so small that I could have had 2 and it looked like 1?

Double down= supposed to be two of everything-2 pieces of chicken, 2 pieces of cheese, 2 pieces of bacon. Guess they skimped out on the bacon, when I saw them making it they took it out of a plastic tub of precooked bacon.

guddagudd 10-30-2010 01:52 PM

yea it's two of everything, and to jeedee above, you got kraft cheese, isnt it supposed to be pepperjack cheese? at least that's what i got

Yeah I thought it was suppose to be pepperjack cheese... I don't know why they gave me craft cheese and small ass pieces of bacon...

Maybe it varies from location

It was pretty good. Almost exactly what I was expecting.

DaJo 11-03-2010 01:28 AM

In all honesty, I think its an artery clogger...chicken, bacon, cheese...and ranch sauce? It is said that it has around 500 calories...that's as much as a Big Mac from McD's lol ew.

rJZx 11-03-2010 01:36 AM

Tried it today and it was just what I expected.... Something you have once and never think about having it again haha.

donjalapeno 11-08-2010 05:42 PM

^ EW......burn it much? your suppose to fry at a steady heat of below medium. And your suppose to pound the chicken to make it less thick.

Hondaracer 11-08-2010 05:50 PM

donjalapeno 11-08-2010 06:14 PM

^ lol i underestimated all the time but then i went to college and we have a food productions course and i learned that you have to get the oil super hot and then put it on low-medium. Doesnt look bad though

No way dude, you fried chicken and bacon completely nude. You must got some oil burns on your body.

Kids, trust me when I say NEVER COOK BACON NAKED
