Why eat a Double Down, with the following nutrition

Calories: 540
Fat: 32
Saturated Fat: 10
Protein: 53
Carbohydrate: 11

When you can have a good ol' Big Mac instead

Calories: 540
Fat: 29
Saturated Fat: 10
Protein: 25
Carbohydrate: 45

Way more protein, WAY less carbs... Yup, it's not good enough for Canada!

jtanner_ 04-13-2010 09:33 PM

Do want

Is that the single QP or the double?
I always have the double.

SkinnyPupp 04-14-2010 04:22 AM

That's a single. Double is good, but still not as good as the Double Down. About 40g of protein I believe... Remove half the bun and it still tastes good, with around 20g carbs. Even better would be to remove the slice of evil they call "cheese" but then it won't taste as good...

He is right though. Why is the KFC thing banned and McDonalds not?
If you just get the "burger" I dont think the Double Down should cause any sort of insulin spike which means that the fats that are in the burger should either get used as energy or get shit out.
This is putting this all into small words. If you still arent happy with this answer I'm sure either me or Skinnypupp could start using big words and quoting studies to get our point across.
The only thing that bothers me is the sodium content of the burger but again I doubt the Big Mac is much better.

SkinnyPupp 04-14-2010 09:06 AM

It's about 1400 mg compared to 1000 on the big mac. Without bacon it would probably be under 700

But whatever, just drink more water.. Salt isn't nearly as bad as people have made it out to be, granted that you are healthy.

sonick 04-14-2010 09:42 AM

Hmm, looks like you can get it Grilled as well, which is definitely not too bad at all. Still sodium laden though.

raygunpk 04-14-2010 01:47 PM

kinda off topic, but has anybody went to churches chicken and got jalapeno bombers? damn those are good.

Peturbo 04-14-2010 09:06 PM

^ Not as good as the Hot crab Xtremers it replaced.

Let's say you want a LOW FAT alternative to the above. Where do you go? SUBWAY of course!

A 6" won't do, you'll be hungry in 10 minutes. So we better get a footlong. Thankfully, Subway offers footlongs with LOW FAT!

Let's get a footlong Turkey Breast:

Calories: 570
Fat: 7
Saturated Fat: 1.5
Protein: 36
Carbohydrate: 95
Sodium: 1830

Enjoy your blood sugar spike!

Yup, the Double Down is pure evil all right.

Blurry because I didn't let my camera focus, I was too fucking hungry.

Got it the day after Tiesto on my way back. Chicken was a bit salty.
Very filling though, considering the chicken pieces were huge.
KFC chicken thighs in Seattle were HUGE!!

How much is it?

Peturbo 04-15-2010 01:53 PM

Sorry, don't remember as I bought a lot of other food with it.

filth 04-15-2010 02:08 PM

its $5.50

$6.99 for the meal

I know you're being sarcastic, but I have to point out.... That's just another stupid myth. Cleansing is totally unnecessary, especially if you are getting enough fat in your diet (yes I said fat, not fiber)

It's how our guts have developed in the last few million years, to eat meat and fat with a bit of roughage, rather than roughage and starch with a bit of fat.

If you take those fiber supplements, all you are doing is irritating the lining of your gut, causing it to flush out mucous and shit faster. That is not necessarily what you need to do to be healthy. People assume that you need to shit every day, and it has to be a large shit to be healthy. That is not true either.

A bit off topic, but SP, what do you make of the idea that consumption of red meat particularly cooked, is linked to colon cancer?

Back on topic,
This double down sandwich is far different than eating two fresh chicken breasts with a slice of pork and some fine french cheese. You say it's better than eating a fast food burger, and I agree, but it really isn't saying much, looking at the big picture of available foods to eat. It really seems laughable to put the Double Down and healthy in the same sentence. (Double down, and not chicken, pork, and cheese)
