the $10 difference is only the F3 key, where it'll be a bluetooth icon instead of wireless icon right?

Anyone else spot any differences?

jonwon 11-24-2010 02:06 AM

based on this picture of the $21 dollar one (CRS' link)

http://www.wishingdeals.com/images/e...10100016_1.jpg

F2 has a command on it
F7 which turns off the touchpad is missing
F8? same fucntion but different icon?

This is the $32 dollar one (Razor's link)

*Added pics by CRS and clarified which is one is which. Yeah, I know blurry pic.

Question to Razor,

Are you shipping to Canada or the states?

Vinny G 11-24-2010 09:07 AM

FYI: top one looks like a 3810 keyboard which has glossy keys. The 3820 keyboard has matte keys. This might factor into your decision making. The glossy keys smudge more easily, of course.

Should be to Canada since I brought up the shipping prices when I messaged the guy.

CRS 11-24-2010 02:15 PM

That sounds good.

illicitstylz, what are you looking to do/what are your concerns?

Like deciding between the two keyboards?

well simply just what the $10 difference will be. but since it was mentioned theres a few things different with the keyboard, it might we worth the $10 to get the proper one ($32.50)

who else is up for the $32.50?

I think all of us are in on the $32.50 one.

Just to confirm, lets just make a list for the $32.50 one with PROPER mapping of keyboard.

1. CRS
2.
3.
4.

And what kind of carrying case are you guys using? Or whatever kind of protection?

Shipping is free to the US, or expedited priority shipping for $6.00. I'd be willing to go to the US and pick them up to bring them back across. What's the pricing that the seller can get to us in that case Razor?

mk1freak 11-24-2010 07:45 PM

does the 32.50 come with happy ending chris?

2. illicitstylz

jonwon 11-24-2010 11:23 PM

^ you can count me in and thanks for already adding me on the list razor :D

CRS 11-24-2010 11:54 PM

That makes four!

Lets make the order. After it arrives, we can even get together and do the installs as well!

If all works out, we'll have mk1freak's twins.

:lol

illicitstylz 11-25-2010 12:06 AM

they're super easy to install lol no need for sausagefest

Razor Ramon HG 11-25-2010 12:07 AM

That's what I was thinking :lol

illicitstylz 11-25-2010 12:17 AM

the install is exactly like this, other than the position of the little clips on the keyboard

jonwon 11-25-2010 03:11 AM

damn, no keyboard party?

jonwon 11-25-2010 04:43 AM

Hey CRS, I was just browsing through the ncix black friday sale and saw this. Thought you might be interested. Good deal, but it's red lol

I'm tempted to grab the WD Scorpio 7200 500GB 2.5IN HDD for $59.99 since the 3820 comes with this ancient 5400RPM one

CRS 11-25-2010 03:31 PM

We were all going to meet up anyways...

Just saying is all...

:(

hahahaha

Seriously. Looking for a bag/case/sleeve for laptop.

Any suggestions?

Razor Ramon HG 11-25-2010 09:16 PM

Zeroshock III 13.3". Fits like a glove with my 3820TG. I also dropped it several times from around 4 feet to test, and everything is perfect.

Also, since today is Thanksgiving, I'll probably get a reply about shipping to Washington state tmrw.

The extra $60+ isn't worth it IMO. I'd rather get a 128GB SSD or the 500GB Momentus XT.

SSD is like twice the price, and I figured that only 64GB would be enough unless you use it as a media center too.

the momentus xt has a lot of bad reviews from newegg.com, it's like a 50/50, very mixed reviews

Well, if you're going to make an upgrade, you might as well make one that's worthwhile. The minor difference for that $60 you're paying just isn't worth it unless you have a lot of cash to burn.

IIRC, the negative feedback for some of the Momentus XTs were due to mechanical failure because of a few bad batches. In any case, the added cache on the hard drive will make a noticeable difference, albeit not as dramatic as a SSD.

I'm personally still waiting for SSD prices to drop down further before I snag a 128GB one. The last 64GB sped up my UL20A a lot, but the lack of space and having to carry an external HD around was a PITA.

illicitstylz 11-26-2010 07:07 AM

so what's the word on the keyboards?

the $32.50 one but shipped to the US (free shipping) for 4?

djm 11-26-2010 08:06 AM

Is the ASUS UL30A for 699.99 a good buy? How does it Acer compare to the 3820TG for $649.99?
