The solution you posted does work, and I've been doing it whenever I know I will need a little extra from my battery, but do you or anyone else know if there is a permanent solution to this. Its kind of annoying having to do it every time

You shouldn't need to do battery calibration that often. It's more like a once in awhile thing when you notice that your battery isn't charging up correctly.

they look the same (even down to the shutter button) they have the same features (except not as robust? as the nokias)

they're announced at the same time yada yada... i mean if you cant see that they're obvious competitors and were designed similarly i dont know what else to do other than smack those phones on ur head and say "Hello????"

:P

i didnt say the nokias were the better phones; as there's the question of the OS (which i feel android may be more polished) and the question of the appearance could go to htc; but in terms of the alike features nokia edges out

Guys over at XDA have already ported the Desire HD rom onto the Desire. Man that was fast. Everything working except the camera.
Check out booting in 3sec with fastboot:

Btw. Desire HD: http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/...ak-373x500.jpg http://www.letsgomobile.org/images/n...-desire-hd.jpgdoesn't look anthing like the N8: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_UJm1lSJKEM...front_back.jpg

Gh0stRider 09-22-2010 07:45 PM

damn....that bootup is fast!

Preemo 09-22-2010 08:37 PM

Dammnnnn that bootup is ridiculous! Damn, I really love the Sense UI.

TOS'd 09-22-2010 08:52 PM

Too bad the Desire HD doesnt have those physical buttons on the bottom like the Desire. Just my personal preference.

I've gotten 36hours on mine before. SenseUI.

RabidRat 09-22-2010 10:36 PM

wtf.. how come at 0:02, the clock flips all of a sudden from 19:54 to 20:56??

c3m 09-23-2010 12:39 PM

^ because the actual time is 20:56. The last time the user accessed the phone was 19:54.
The widget is just updating the time.

Anyone have swype? I found a version online but its expired already, have heard and read a lot about it but never tried it until now and pretty bumed out about this.

Gh0stRider 09-25-2010 12:24 PM

!

this guy is saying that the desire hd fast boot time is caused becuase the phone is in a sleep mode, not really turned off.
he rebooted the phone and it took like 30 seconds to bootup.

Tim Budong 09-25-2010 02:17 PM

if there was a NAM version of hte HD2, i would be all over that

!MiKrofT 09-25-2010 03:00 PM

Is that supposed to happen? Seems like a bug.

SkinnyPupp 09-27-2010 05:04 AM

No the clock refreshes only when it's on the screen. The animation is new for the Desire.

Fuck. Is anyone running leedroid 2.1A? I installed it just now and its now looping in the boot screen.
Edit: Tried recovery and it loaded up once but then hung on a blank black screen, after that I was never able to get back into recovery/ clockworks mod or w.e its called. Then I tried a full memory wipe from the menu you get from holding down the lower volume button and subsequently my phone is now stuck on a boot up animation that says android.

!MiKrofT 09-27-2010 07:36 PM

I'm running Leedroid 2.1a. No problems at all. All I did was flash overtop the existing ROM in clockwork recovery and rebooted. Maybe your ext3 partition is corrupted if you're using the apps2d+ version. Try swapping out or formatting the sd card. Strange that clockwork recovery isn't working anymore though.

JayDaMan 09-27-2010 07:40 PM

my friend has that phone, its pretty sick.. rather have the iphone 4 tho or samsung galaxy s

TOS'd 09-28-2010 02:14 AM

HTC Desire Z looks really nice..

But then I read this, does that mean it won't work here? Or like the 3G won't work on Rogers network?

Network4

Europe:

* HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
* GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Asia Pacific:

* HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
* GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

c3m 09-28-2010 08:00 AM

^ correct Euro and Asia version won't work on the 3G network in NA

TOS'd 09-28-2010 10:28 AM

^ sighzzz i wonder if they'll have a NA version. cause i really want the Z.

!MiKrofT 09-28-2010 10:54 AM

You can if you're with Wind mobile. T-Mobile G2 is the NA variant.

TOS'd 09-30-2010 12:29 AM

^ Wow this totally sucks. I really wanted to get this phone too, but im not on wind, and don't plan on switching any time soon... fml.. back to looking for a new phone..

Anyone know if they will release the Desire Z for at&t/rogers?

c3m 09-30-2010 11:46 AM

^ Desire Z should be coming to Canada.

Rumours from HTC rep are saying there is a qwerty keyboard android going to Bell and Bestbuy Internal computer shows cases for Desire Z

So it's most likely coming but don't know who is getting it yet
