The worst thing Komano will have to deal with is the fact that his shot was just an inch away from going into the net. I've seen other soccer players miss by miles.
When you're on such a big stage, someone is bound to fold and it just so happened to be Komano. Pressure is a huge factor.

You're right - a miss is a miss. But a miss that could have went in by a few inches would certainly feel a hell of a lot more crappy for me than if I missed by a mile. I think we can all agree that getting so close to something you really want and not getting it hurts much more than when you're not even close to begin with.
Either way, Komano will, unfortunately, be remembered as the man that essentially let his whole nation down.
