^ I've actually heard of all this before, but flawless isn't exactly an industry shifting event. Yes there are films released on PPV and DVD before they get their theatrical premiere, but there's a reason you're not able to remember their names, they're films with no promise of much return, and will rely on dvd sales overtime, so the studio goes ahead and skips the theatrical step(and if that works out, they re-release in theatre). Comparing your idea of paying $10 for one episode of a TV show to the $1.99/episode model that already exists is ludicrous, the pricing doesn't make sense.

What I've heard is, a $20 - for a month subscription to a theatrical movie channel(like a week after release), which makes sense as most of the film's earnings will occur in that first week, but again, these will not be A+ films.

As for releasing the film before or at the same time, it's a stupid idea, DVD/blu ray sales are not impressive and nothing to lead with. Netflix offers tv/film for $8 a month, HD and commercial free, that price is incredibly competitive. And when we talk about television, we're talking advertising, direct sales are gonna be icing on the cake, the real money is in giving advertisers that grade A program, like Walking Dead, and giving them the opportunity to advertise during first run airings.

The show is beautifully shot. I love that they're not going for the obvious scares and shocks.

obviously... but like how some movies are available to rent (for a premium) that are headed to the theatres or are currently shown in cinemas you would think something like that would be offered (hell id pay 10$ an episode to ppv the season ahead of time)

Why would they though, when the market they cater to (or care about) is the States, and most people have TiVO. Who would pay extra?

tivo doesnt show you shows ahead of time, early, and even with tivo/dvrs/pvrs/reruns/watching on network websites/pirating there is still a market for it (hence why they rent them out @ 1.99$)

anyway that whole talk just blew up out of a "wish" of mine ;)

Motion Comic of the show

it's the first season, they had to make it really long so people don't change channels so i guess the advertisers didn't get a chance to cut in every 10 mins. but regardless, it kicked off to a good start, the comics are so so so good too. with 79 eposides (based from the comic), it'll be on a good run for 8 years?

I'm not sure if this show has an 8 year shelf life, but I do hope they make more eps for season 2 though. 6 eps is going to fly by fast!

twitchyzero 11-06-2010 10:48 PM

i think they already ordered 13 episodes for s2

they are not afraid to show intestines in this show hahah

Ronin 11-07-2010 10:37 PM

Ugh...making up filler already? They basically took a short storyline and a panel of something Rick saw in passing (or was it a story Glenn told?) and made it into an entire episode. I can also tell you that they're not wasting any time with Andrea. I found episode 2 disappointing in a story sense but fuck, it was still thrilling to watch.

They're not afraid of violence but I'm seriously wondering if they're going to water down the content soon. I mean, The Walking Dead isn't for the faint of heart. There's...

Spoiler!

There's no way half of the stuff in the comic is going to make it anywhere near TV.

strykn 11-07-2010 10:55 PM

Glenn just peaces off with the camaro ahhaha love it.

Gtrr33 11-07-2010 11:03 PM

by the looks of it glen is going to be my favorite character

I think you're wrong, they aren't gonna follow the comic to the tee, and that disappoints me as much as it does you. But I don't think they're going to water down anything
Spoiler!
. But anyways, evidence: they axed a corpse and walked around in it's entrails, and if I'm not correct said nigger 3-4 times. This writers are taking the source material seriously I'm sure.

God knows they aren't going to top anything Robert Kirkman wrote in the comic book series, but they can at least not fuck it up. :(

Matlock 11-08-2010 04:14 AM

So... it's really that easy to steal a Dodge Challenger, huh?

If this was an ad placement, I don't see why you would want to advertise it as easy to steal.

twitchyzero 11-08-2010 07:49 AM

whoa whoa...please keep the comic spoilers within hidden spoiler tags

i think the redneck looks a lot like francis from left 4 dead

if you needed to break a window in a car and drive it thru a horde of zombies, wouldn't you smash the passenger side?! Then they couldn't bite you thru the window.

Hondaracer 11-09-2010 03:19 PM

where can i read the comics?

Thats what bugs me bout this series. The rest I'm liking but how does a guy survive a coma unattended with no fluids nourishment or even a regular diaper changing for that long.
IV's only last a day.

JHatta 11-09-2010 05:06 PM

agreed, that made no sense at all how he could be sitting in the hospital for that long without any care.

i guess they tried to implicate that point by having him drinking water out of the tap like a mad man

And how he was munching that mystery meat like a mad man.

Loving the series so far.

i guess it's hard to say
i mean when you are comatose you don't use much energy at all...thus i guess it's plausible to go on even a good 3 weeks without any resources.

they had the same thing in 28 days later..no one seems to criticize that.

Same argument can be made for...........28 days later.
