just wondering if you guys could help me understand this better since ill probably get a faster reply here than sending an email to bcit.
so im going into this program which is 3 terms, i understand that the first term tuition is due 60 days before the start of class but where i get lost is for the second and third term tuition, can i pay them 10 days prior to the start of each term or do i have to pay both terms' tuition 10 days prior to the start of the second term?
thanks in advance |

ABET doesn't really have their own lab space. We have to share with the interior design students.. | Im not in Architectural Sciences but I do have my own dedicated lab room in SW3. Only accessible by my class and instructors, but 95% of the time its just us students. So Architectural Sciences aren't the only ones.

thanks in advance | Usually you pay once per term. I haven't heard of a program where you pay for multiple terms upfront. That would be disastrous for students on student aid I think.

There are many programs in other buildings that have dedicated lab space. Don't feel too special...

I simply want to know if I am 2nd or 3rd in line to get into the program if someone drops or like 300th...
I got nowhere though, they will not release any information to you. I know two people who were accepted into the program cause of dropouts after the first day of classes. Quote:

thanks in advance | You are to pay tuition for each semester after your first around 2 weeks before the start date. You can get extensions on this if you are applying for student loans, but you will need to go see the registrars office.

Also, is anyone taking CST or CIT? Which is better - job wise? Can I get some general feedback about what to expect?

And no, I'm not selling my IS =P

Okay, this is just my opinion and experience but the biggest difference between CST and CIT is this:
CST: Mainly software development (programming, internet platforms/interfaces etc.)
CIT: Network Admin (databases, administration etc.)
I find that at BCIT, you have to be passionate about what you do otherwise, you struggle just to get by. When I took the Cisco CCNA program a few years back to supplement my career and education, man, did I get my ass kicked. This is where reality said, "hahahha bcrdukes, you're a fucking retard! you are a dumb mother fucker. Go to hell you piece of shit!"
There were people in the program who were WAY ahead of the entire course material but they were required to take the class anyway. These people were smart and extremely passionate about what they did. These were the guys who lived and breathed ones and zeros, knew the ins and outs of fibre optics, connectors, programming, databases and the like. Me? I was just some chump off the street who thought I knew my shit but man, did I get my ass handed to me.
Any way, the two programs are similar, but different in their own ways. Your brother has to figure out and try for himself what he prefers. And you don't go to school for the sake of a job. You go to school to supplement what you already know, into what you want to know and what you can do with it. It's ultimately up to the individual to aspire to their goals in life, whatever it may be.
The difference between a job and a career is as simple as this:
- Do you want to just go to work from 9am to 5pm, go home and collect a paycheque? If yes, this is more so a job.
- Do you want to go to work, feel excited about what you do, and be happy to share your experience with your friends and family and look forward to questioning the status quo? That's a career.
Both choices will get you a paycheque. The difference is whether you want to make something out of it or not. There are a few examples of RS members who did either/or and ended up being very successful. Some of which have moved to San Francisco to work for large IT companies. Some have moved to Toronto and whatnot. Whether it's CIT or CST, these people chose a career, as opposed to just a job.
As for my sister, she's in pre-med @ UBC. Are her job prospects good in the future? Yeah, most likely, like when she becomes a surgeon or specialist easily making a six-figure salary. But does she hate what she's doing? Every second of it.
P.S. - I want to fail you for owning a manual IS300.

For you prospective students who are under the impression BCIT is a joke of an institution, we're in the fourth week of classes and already, one guy got kicked out.
No, he didn't drop out. He was asked not to come to class anymore.
Why? He failed the first assignment (worth a lot of marks) and didn't hand in the second assignment. That in itself was a fail.

This was an accounting course. Subsequently, he was removed from the entire program, I believe (degree program.)

If you buy a steak from the butchers, then proceed to burn it to a charcoaled brick on the BBQ are you going to ask for a refund?
