they can tax you on jerry cans of gas? can they tax you if you said you went down to fill up for gas? how about on groceries? |
i've brought 40L of gas through (2 jerry cans were 40L) plus my full tank of gas and they didn't care. mind you they pretty much know me now since i go at least once a week. i drive a gas guzzler and i live a few hundred feet from the boarder so it makes sense for me to go to PR to get gas. but if you live in vancouver probably not. plus boarder traffic can suck big time, i left for work this morning and the line up was already in front of my driveway. tip: go at night. oh and as far as i know you don't get taxed on groceries. my parents go to bellingham a lot and they always bring groceries back with them (they LOVE trader joes) and they havent been taxed. and it's not like they're not declaring them or anything like that |

I'm going to start filling up @ Point Roberts more often the way gas prices are going... just keep buying smaller stuff from DealXtreme, Monoprice, etc... |

Gas yesterday is $1.10USD per liter for supreme at Chevron |
Anyone go down there recently? What are the prices like? I'm planning to go later in the afternoon. |
I was in Blaine on Monday. 92 octane was $4.05/gallon (which is $1.07/L) |

Gas inside your car's gas tank is non taxable. Gas inside portable containers IS taxable, and subject to a fairly high rate of duty as well. I don't believe there is any tax exemption on groceries... they fall into the amount of your personal exemption if you have been away for a certain amount of time. |
Just got back. $1.15 for 92 at Chevron. $600 of merchandise, no tax, no duty. I figured I saved about $400 on merchandise, $120 on taxes, and $20 on gas. |
$1.11 Chevron @ Pt. Roberts. Went to TSB to pick up an item I ordered online for $213. Didn't get taxed. |
I haven't got taxed on bringing gas back. I usually get 40L extra on top of the gas I fill in my car. |
just got back from it today too 1.16/L for 92 octane at shell get that ski /board buy one get one free voucher and sell it craigslist |

There are limits on how much meat each person can bring in, and no fruits and vegetables can come back into Canada I believe. We always bring back dairy, eggs, since it is literally half the price of what it is here when it is full priced in the US. And a roast chicken from US Costco, that stuff is money :) |
^ Anyone remember the limit for meat? And aware of any grocery/food items that are actually taxable? |

Not sure what it is at pt. Roberts but in blaine was 111 for the at the chevron Posted via RS Mobile |
just got back from Bellingham $3.97 (5am) <--- consider high i guess |
1.16 for V-Power at Shell, 1.15 for Premium at Chevron and 1.14 at Texaco. I filled up @ Texaco. |
Gas today was 3.91/4.01/4.11 per gallon. (1.03/1.06/1.09 per L) at Shell in Blaine on D St. Texaco across the road was the same price. EDIT: Not gas related but that Shell station also sells cheap milk if you're filling up there anyways. Milk is $2.49/gallon with gas purchase. A lot cheaper than the $4+ /gallon we pay here. |
Currently it's 1.20 for premium at Chevron, in Pt Roberts |
Its rising slowly. It was 1.16 last Saturday. |
