An old joke, but still relevant.
Charitable Donation
A local United Way office realized that it had never received a donation from the town's most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.
"Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?"
The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?"
Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbled, "Um...no."
"--or that mybrother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?"
The stricken United Way rep began to stammer out an apology but was interrupted,
"--or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!"
The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, "I had no idea..."
On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again: "--so if I don't give any money to them, why should I give any to you?!?"
I bet the scammers will STILL argue that giving it to them is a better.

next time i see these guys, im going to the push ups idea and film it and put it on revscene

Ran into one at the liquor store in surrey, bitch made me give her my pocket change. It was all nickels and dimes. She still had the nerve to ask me for paper money.

The obvious question that comes to my mind is 'Who's running them?'
Maybe CTV would be interested... hmm...

They're around Matsuyama and Twinkle 1 on Alexandra Road in Richmond all the time... I don't get why the restaurants allow them to go inside and pull that shit.. The first time I ever saw them was when Indonesia was hit with that huge ass tsunami back in (2004? or 2006?) the day.. just came back from HK and went to eat and I still see them wtf! They're like little rats

I thought it was a little strange to see a 4 page thread on this and not experience it...
I Just came home from Estea, was eating and heard this obnoxious fucker playing his guitar and singing. When i turned around there was a group of them shoving their flyers out at the waitress... poor girl tried so hard to be nice while trying to get them to leave.
How could someone ask for money like that and not feel any shame whatsoever?!

lol it seems like majority of sightings are in richmond/metrotown or just near sky trains? maybe their way of transportation and their "target" spots?
I've personally never seen one but now that i think about it..if they get too pushy and its a guy..I don't mind taking him out. for the women...maybe they are worth the bj
Go further and let the province or even the vancouver sun know?

I've got an easy escape route for whenever I'm harassed by someone like that. As soon as they ask me for change, I give them a puzzled look and respond with a "je ne parle pas l'anglais" (poorly written french for "I don't speak english"). If they keep on persisting as I walk away, I'll just speak a bunch of gibberish in French since it's unlikely they'll be able to understand a word I'm saying anyway.

Ok now that we have collected enough information about these people, the question is what are we going to do about it? I say we confront them head on with the intention of making them look like fools. Someone should take pictures of them just to freak them out a bit and when they ask, say you are submitting it to the authorities

- play along with the donation
- tell them you have friends at church that would love to donate
- get one of their phone numbers
- post it on /b/ let them wreak havoc
