I finally bit the bullet and bought the yakima big powderhound ski rack. But its so loud... Does anybody know where to get a fairing that fits factory bars? The thule and yakima dont do factory bars....

i'm using the yakima fatcat 6. imo its the best ski/carrier out there. low profile for saving gas, and really wide so the boards won't get squished when loading.

k2_alpha 01-16-2011 10:25 AM

^yeah,
I took a serious look at the fat cat when I was doing research for my ski/snowboard carrier. Figured that I usually drive in town with very rare long distance trips; makes the gas saving pretty low. The one interior mountain trip I do every year is rare enough to nullify it.

What do you drive? Are you still rocking the el?

alex.w *// 01-16-2011 09:36 PM

yea turned it into winter mode

How much is a 7-11 Whistler pass? Does it have to be used the day of, or can you use it anytime?

Is the Edge card cheaper than 7-11?

edge cards are fully cheaper than the 711 pass, the more days you buy ahead of time, the cheaper the regular days are.

711 discounted tickets are usually 8 - 12 bucks off of the regular pass, however they have no expiration date, you can use them till the last regular day of the season, NOT applicable for glacier riding.

Was up at grouse from 2:30 till closing today. Holy crap was there ever a lot of snow! It was actually really hard to board at first because of how high the snow was, but then everything tapered off when more people hit the mountains in the later hours and packed it down. Overall, awesome week to board!!!

sonick 01-21-2011 07:16 AM

Whistler this weekend, woooo.

rien 01-22-2011 08:36 PM

Any sales on snowboarding gear?

Is 5000mm pants enough or should I go with 10000mm+? Jackets? I'm just starting out and I don't see myself going more than 2-3 times per season :(

TOS'd 01-22-2011 09:24 PM

Gowith 10,000mm.
Even though you wont use it much on the mountain, you still can use it elsewhere.

But, when you ARE on the mountain, you will be glad you have the 10,000. Makes all the difference when the day becomes wet.

alex.w *// 01-24-2011 09:27 PM

what do you guys normally do when you go?

-complete noob, no carving
-no jumps no tricks, just carve on green runs maybe blue
-minor side jumps on runs, carve green blue black runs, minor jibs tricks jumps in terrain park
- every side jump there is, s m l xl at terrain park, carve blue black runs

sonick 01-24-2011 09:31 PM

I am between #2 and #3. Carve green easily, blue pretty comfortable, no jumps or black yet.

TOS'd 01-24-2011 09:39 PM

between 3 and 4.

greens, blues, blacks, minor side jumps, and flat(no slant) boxes/fat rails. too scared to do the thin metal rails and anything on a slant still, haha.

but im still noob, cant always land every jump.

I carve regular, and riding switch.

I like spreading the butter before take offs on jumps.

riding switch and cab spins.

I like pressing out.

I like bonking trees/bamboo/other peoples snowboards and throwin late spins

I like flirting with your girlfriends on the chair

slowride 01-25-2011 12:32 PM

I've only been riding since the end of last season, but i think i'm pickin it up alrite lol.
I carve regular, haven't really tried switch yet , can do greens, blues, and blacks. I like the lil side jumps, the terrain parks are still a bit huge for me :p I've heard that blackcomb has a really good beginner park, anyone kno of it?
But yah i jus like to ride, its wicked fun :) and i heart powder.
