right now, we can't release any of that information until the show's scheduled to play on air.

So you wouldn't exactly walk away from everything. How can you tell from an audio-less video and a tight-lipped OP what the nature of the altercation was? Right now, it could have very well been gay bashing, race bashing, family bashing, etc; but you chose to ignore that uncertainty. Why? is it too inconvenient for your condescencion?

OP did nothing wrong. Whipping out a camera to document your harrassers for authorities is just akin to "tattle taling to your teacher" (which is not an act of aggression or instigation). Now, if the reason why the audio was omitted is because the OP was ACTUALLY verbally instigating an altercation, then that may warrant some of the comments but we haven't gotten that far yet.


IMO, a lot of people are just getting too ahead of themselves in thinking they know exactly how it started, exactly what words were exchanged, and exactly how it could have been avoided, if at all avoidable.

For once, I agree with you; a lot of people are assuming too many things.

But dude, whipping out a camera is only making the situation worse. Yeah, it's not illegal nor wrong but wake the fuck up and smell the fucking coffee. It won't make the situation better. As a matter of fact, it's almost guaranteed to make the situation worse. OP is lucky that they didn't jack the phone too.

Should've just walked / ran away. Lose a little bit of pride, save yourself a trip to the hospital.

Whipping out a camera is not an act of "antagonization." It's either an act of self defense or deterrence (out of documentation); both of which I find reasonable responses to harrassment - in addition to walking away, or just riding out your torment.

And secondly, is everyone else forgetting that the OP didn't start filming as an act of "defiance" but moreso just a response-in-kind to already being filmed? (by that asian guy)

I'm not forgetting that he was being filmed. But who the hell cares? I'd rather have them with a boring vid of me walking away instead of one of me getting stomped plus the ambulance blaring to my rescue. And just because you find it a reasonable response to harrassment doesn't mean it's the best way. It'll also probably get you in the same situation as the OP in a similar future situation.

Drunks like that feed off any kind of RESPONSE. Walk away and ignore it and 99% of the time, they'll just get bored with it and leave.

If you don't believe me, just compare two situations and tell me which one has a higher probability of you getting out without confrontation:
1) Turn around, film them, SHOW that you're paying attention to them and that they're getting to you
2) Walk away, ignore them, if they persist, then RUN or do whatever the hell you need to get away

the sunken eyes and blad head kinda threw red flag for me... but upon further inspection, the original douche doesnt have a receding hairline and doesnt look as tall as the guy in white. looking at the teeth from the front view, is hard to tell if they are straight
