Still dealing with two feet of snow and -25* weather here.

If I read anything about you guys down on the Coast bitching about two centimetres of snow, I'm gonna personally come down to Vancouver and kick each and every one of you.

I even bought my first truck in 09 after the 08 dump. Hasn't snowed since, the year I stop owning a truck it will definitely snow like crazy.

if vancouver had 3x the current population and let's pretend we've never seen snow...i wonder if we'll have the same problem

StylinRed 02-06-2014 09:47 PM

i remember hearing about that something like 1000+ cars were jammed on the hwy and kids were stuck in school/coming back from school and people were up in arms that schools weren't closed for the day
also residents near the highway brought food to people stuck in cars or invited them to their homes for a reprieve

EXACTLY!! Pretty sure I warned you so you can't bitch anymore :p Lol you will love summer though, 2000 hours of sunshine annually generally means a dry summer. although that generally means campfire bans starting in may/ june, lots of forest fires and generally the valley of kamloops is immersed in smoke.

Coming from where lomac works I can see now why Vancouver shuts down over snow, it friggen freezes and becomes an ice rink. I drove in the snow up there for many years and use to make fun of Vancouver
On the topic of the cold weather, right now I don't feel it's any different than the -20 I endured there. Can we please go back to the + temperatures tho. Unless it means rain, then ill stick with the sun.. Although I would love to see a lot more snow here  lol but no snow until Monday now, if even. Everyday the forecast keeps changing with the snow forecasted originally today, then changed til tomorrow, then sun, now just mon; is tomorrow going to say Tuesday?

It's +10 in the sun here, but judging by the heavy layer of ice on my car, I'd say it's still well below 0 in the shade. I know it was -6 at some point last night.

MG1 02-07-2014 09:23 AM

The only good snow is the kind that falls on christmas day.

just saiyan...........

RevYouUp 02-07-2014 11:50 PM

Or the snow that shuts down school when you're in elementary or high school.. Other then that, snow pisses me off.

Forget snow, freezing rain could be the bigger problem for B.C.?s south coast - BC | Globalnews.ca

Quote:

It appears some residents of Vancouver Island and areas of the South Coast and Metro Vancouver could be dealing with freezing rain late Sunday night into Monday morning.

A complex weather system south of the region will move over the South Coast from Sunday night into Monday.

Some areas of the inner South Coast will still see snow from Sunday night into Monday, but it will be accumulations of 5 cm or less. Environment Canada says they will not be issuing any snowfall warnings for the time being, but say a more significant concern will be the threat of freezing rain over parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley early Monday morning.

Freezing rain is also possible over parts of Vancouver Island as well. By late Monday into Tuesday the warmer Pacific air will bring significant rain.

Around noon on Sunday residents of western Vancouver Island will see mixed precipitation. That system will then spread to the Fraser Valley by Sunday evening.

Between about 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Monday morning freezing rain will fall over Metro Vancouver, but out to the Fraser Valley the freezing rain could fall until about noon.

This will mean the roads will be very slippery and there could be power outages.

We will bring you the latest news on this weather system throughout Sunday and Monday. Stay tuned to our SkyTracker page for the latest.
Oh nature, why must you :troll: us so??

If only we knew how to drive, it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Hmmm, I'm supposed to head up to Kelowna tomorrow. Perhaps I should either leave today or consider another week.

CorneringArtist 02-09-2014 07:21 AM

Started snowing on my way down to Seattle last night, and my god shit hits the fan on just an inch of snow when the salt trucks aren't around. I drove by four accidents on I-5 within a two mile span, and everyone on all-seasons were losing traction around me.

v_tec 02-09-2014 08:34 PM

Started snowing in Burnaby. Very light flurries.
