^ nothing yet just turntables and a mixer. Although im getting Traktor Scratch Pro with a Kontrol X1 for Christmas! |
I DJ Equipment: 2 tech 1200 retired Behringer mixer retired Torq DVS system retired Torq Xponent midi controller (what I use now) Behringer B2031A studio monitors (amazing sound at a bargin price) 2 Yamaha 15 inch PA speakers 2 Yamaha 18 inch PA subs Behringer EP 2500 amp Behringer EP 1500 amp Behringer 2 way crossover Behringer xover Behringer rack mount mixer beyerdynamic wireless mic planing on selling most of my PA gear. Before you buy equipment figure out what type of DJ you want to be (mobile club bedroom) and what type of music you want to play(hiphop EDM ect.). The Hercules midi controller is O.K. if you want to DJ in your bedroom, house party's, or be a mobile DJ but it's not good if you want to be a club DJ. |
^ Shit i thought i was the only one here haha! A midi controller is a good start but definitely not a Club Standard. Plus can still throw down at house parties. Hey Manic since you seem to have some experience with speakers what are some good Active studio monitors that are not too expensive. I was looking at the Rokit KRK6 but i dunno i cant justify spending 350 on each monitor LOL |

Amazing for the price. Should cost 2x the price. Some of the best speakers I have heard. You have 150 watts RMS going to the 8 inch mid and 75 watts RMS going to the tweeter. I paid $359 plus taxes from Tom Lee with a price match from here http://www1.canadacomputers.com/prod...item_id=021936 I don't know if Tom lee still carry's them but long-mcquade does and I think they price match too. |
Hey thx, seems that Long and Mcquade is asking $450 for the pair. Ill see what they can do |

The 1200's are apparently discontinued now to my knowledge but local music stores still carry them until all sold out. Vinyl is the shit but its even more expensive due to well vinyl cost up to $10.00 each per song... You can always get a DVS system like Serato but thats even more money. CDJ's is the best way to go! |

local Pawn shop has one for $250. Here is one on craigslist for $275 http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...093572589.html Spend $300 on a mixer and a DVS system like Torq. $200 here http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...087647010.html and you got a setup for under $1200 plus speakers and headphones. |
Good deal on Torq xponent. $400. Just add a computer hand headphones and some speakers and your good to go. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...096605522.html |
how do the pioneer cdj 900s compare to the mk3s? |
Quote:
MK3 what? |
pioneer cdj 1000 mk3s lol arnt they known as mk3s? =S |
mk3 doesnt refer specifically to the 1000's. I have been Dj'in for 10 years now and VDJ is a good starting point. For those wanting to start with Vinyl pick up some direct drive TT's on Craigslist or a pawn shop with a cheap mixer and go crazy. Just like anything its about having fun and practicing. Spinning house trance electro music is easier then hiphop and rap as the beats per minute are around the same range so again if ur into that its a good starting point. I got 2 1200's with a Rane Mixer. You need to get Good headphones that are comfortable!!!! |
CDJ1000 MK3 are pretty much the same as the 800's. Only biggest difference is Hot Cues, Better Wave Display, SD card and generally better build quality overall. CDJ900 + 2000 are a whole new league in technology, same as the CDJ850. All the new Pioneer products could now be linked through RekordBox Software which kinda acts as a DVS system and you can play yours songs through the computer. I dont really know too much details since i havent played around with them yet. Plus you could use USB on all the new line CDJ's. Check out some reviews and features here http://www.skratchworx.com/reviews/cdj_firstlook.php |
The pitch control is more accurate on the 1000's than the 800's. If you are good at beat matching though this is not an issue. Posted via RS Mobile |
800 - 0.05% 1000 - 0.02% Simulated do u spin? |

I think there is only 2 stores that sell DJ gear, TomLee Music and Long and Mcquade... Also i hate to say it but FutureShop is going all " Pro Audio " and carry some equipment... Check their website for Sales, I know as a fact that there is already discounted items up to 50% off at TomLee and MC :) |

Im currently using Hercules Control Steel w/ DJ IO soundcard And the build quality of this particular midi controller is superb, the knobs are still tight, faders are crisp and not flimsy like a lot of the NUMARK designs lol. Just a quick tip, if anyone decides to start out make sure you get decent speakers and a decent laptop with ATLEAST 3 GB of ram xP |
